In the rarely-seen landscape of a Chinese BL drama, *In Your Heart* tells the tender and tumultuous story of childhood friends Cheng Yi and Ling Zi Ming, two boys from broken families who have always been each other’s anchor. Their bond is tested as they navigate the treacherous waters of high school, caught between unspoken feelings and a circle of friends—including the lovelorn Lu Xiang Lin and the sharp-witted Yue Yu Zhi. Shot with a raw sincerity that belies its modest budget, this 8-episode series captures the ache of first love and the fear of losing the one person who makes you feel whole. While it stumbles in its pacing and a controversial final act, the emotional core remains a poignant exploration of gravity—the irresistible pull between two souls who can’t bear to be apart. For BL fans starved for Chinese content, it’s a fragile but precious gem that dares to exist against all odds.

I can't help but love it despite its flaws. The chemistry between Cheng Yi and Ling Zi Ming is so raw and real—I felt every longing glance. Yes, the ending is painful and that one scene is uncomfortable, but the 'law of gravity' dialogue broke me in the best way. A rare Chinese BL that I'll defend with my whole heart.

Started promising but falls apart in the second half. The pacing is all over the place, side characters get abandoned, and the final episode relies on a silly contrivance to create drama. The forced scene isn't just morally questionable—it makes no sense for the characters. Watchable if you're desperate for Chinese BL, but don't expect coherence.

I wanted to support a Chinese BL, but I can't overlook the message this sends. That scene in episode 8 is textbook coercion—he punches him and then forces intimacy. The show treats it as romantic because the victim 'accepts' it afterwards. This is a harmful trope that we should have left behind in 2016. No ethical rewatch value.

The OST is genuinely gorgeous—I've had the main theme on repeat for weeks. The music carries so much of the emotional weight, especially in those quiet scenes where the dialogue falters. If you're someone who judges dramas by their soundtrack, this one delivers. Pity the editing couldn't match the music's quality.

I read the original novel before watching, and while the adaptation captures the core relationship, it cuts so much depth. The novel's exploration of Cheng Yi's family trauma is barely touched, and the side characters like Yue Yu Zhi get shafted. That said, the actors do their best with what they're given. A flawed but faithful skeleton of the book.
