You Are My Present is a tender Thai-Japanese romantic drama that proves some fires never truly die. Successful businessman Tee returns to his rural hometown to finalize the sale of an old building, only to come face-to-face with Poom, the ex-lover he left behind years ago. As they are forced to work together on the property’s fate, unresolved feelings and buried memories resurface, challenging both men to confront the regrets and misunderstandings that tore them apart. Woven with a beautiful Japanese legend about eternal love, this short-form series captures the bittersweet ache of second chances and the courage it takes to rebuild trust. With 20 compact episodes filmed vertically for mobile viewing, the story unfolds like a heartfelt letter—intimate, emotional, and impossible to put down. Up Poompat and Poom Phuripan deliver natural, electric chemistry that makes every glance and quiet moment feel profound. I’m completely obsessed. Up and Poom have this electric pull that made my heart race every single episode. The way they slowly thaw the ice between them is pure poetry—I cried, I swooned, I rewatched the rooftop scene five times. This is why I watch BL.

The emotional beats work, but the vertical short-episode format really limits character development. Tee’s business conflict is resolved too conveniently, and side characters are barely sketched. It’s a sweet snack, not a full meal. If you want depth, look elsewhere.

For a mobile-first production, this is surprisingly gorgeous. The warm color grading, soft-focus flashbacks, and clever use of vertical framing (like mirror shots and close-ups) make every scene feel intimate. The Japanese legend insert shots are breathtaking. A visual treat.

I appreciate that the show takes time to address why their first relationship ended—miscommunication and unspoken needs. Both characters eventually learn to ask for what they want, which is a healthy message. However, the power imbalance (businessman vs. small-town florist) could have been examined more critically. Still, a solid effort for the genre.

The OST is the real MVP here. The main theme plays during that first reunion and I got chills—it perfectly captures the ache of seeing a lost love. The instrumental pieces under the slow-dance scene are just *chef’s kiss*. I’ve already added the playlist to my daily rotation.
