Set against the vibrant backdrop of modern Manila, *Why You?* follows the tender and tumultuous journey of Tristan (Kristoffer Kelly Mendoza) and Harvey (Jeys Mariano), two young men whose unexpected connection challenges their understanding of love, identity, and self-worth. Tristan is a reserved art student navigating family expectations, while Harvey is a carefree musician hiding a painful past. When a chance encounter at a local café sparks an undeniable chemistry, they must confront societal judgment, internal fears, and the messy reality of building a relationship from scratch. This Philippine web series stands out for its raw, slice-of-life storytelling, grounded performances, and authentic portrayal of queer love as both fragile and resilient. With a mix of sweet moments, quiet heartbreaks, and hopeful glances, *Why You?* captures the universal question every lover asks: why him, and why now?

I’m absolutely melted by Tristan and Harvey. Their chemistry is so genuine and low-key that I felt like I was intruding on something private. Every little smile and shy touch gave me butterflies. This is what pure, soft romance should feel like.

The emotional beats are sweet, but the pacing drags in the middle episodes, and some side plots feel half-baked. Tristan’s family conflict is resolved too easily, and Harvey’s backstory needed more screen time. It’s charming, but don’t expect tight storytelling.

For a low-budget web series, the visual direction is impressively thoughtful. Soft natural lighting, warm color grading, and intimate framing make every scene feel like a photo diary. The cafe and street shots capture Manila’s beauty without being touristy. A treat for the eyes.

I appreciate that the show highlights Harvey’s struggle with coming out on his own terms, but there’s a scene where Tristan pushes for answers a bit too hard without clear boundaries. Luckily, the series handles it with a sincere apology later. Overall, it’s a respectful portrayal of queer youth navigating love and fear.

The original song that plays during their first real conversation is stuck in my head. The acoustic guitar and soft vocals perfectly match the tender mood. I wish the soundtrack was longer—every scene’s background music elevates the emotional weight beautifully.
