Y Journey: Stay Like a Local is a delightful anthology series that pairs six iconic Thai BL actor couples with six stunning destinations in eastern Thailand. Each 8-minute episode unfolds a self-contained love story – from a heartfelt reunion between old friends to a quiet confession over local cuisine – all while weaving in themes of sustainability, community, and eco-conscious travel. The series feels like a warm postcard from Thailand’s lesser-known corners, blending gentle romance with gorgeous scenery and mouthwatering food. Perfect for a quick, feel-good escape, it captures the tenderness of new and rekindled connections without demanding a long binge.

I'm absolutely smitten! Seeing NetJames and MaxNat in such soft, romantic stories was a dream. The scene where they share a plate of mango sticky rice by the river? My heart melted. It's short but every second is pure fluff.

I wanted to love it, but the pacing is all over the place. Each episode is so rushed that character development is almost nonexistent. The tourism message is nice, but the romance feels like an afterthought. A decent time-killer, nothing more.

The cinematography is stunning – every frame looks like a travel magazine spread. The golden hour shots of the temples and the vibrant market scenes are visually intoxicating. I wish they'd added location subtitles, but the beauty more than makes up for it.

I appreciate how the series subtly weaves in themes of sustainable living and local pride while keeping the romance respectful and consensual. No toxic tropes here – just two people supporting each other. The episode about coming out to parents was handled with care.

The background music is pleasant but unmemorable – it blends into the scenery rather than enhancing the emotions. I was hoping for a signature OST to hum afterwards, but it's serviceable. Still, the ambient sounds of nature and cooking were a nice touch.
