Picking up years after the first season, 'Why Love Why Season 2' finds Benjo and Emil navigating a more mature, complex chapter of their relationship. Now settled into domestic life, the couple faces new challenges that test their bond, including the unexpected arrival of a mysterious housekeeper, a surprise pregnancy, and a whirlwind of quirky new characters—from a transgender woman and her pansexual son to former series cameos. The tone swings from campy comedy to heartfelt drama, with the leads delivering steamy, playful chemistry that keeps the romance alive. While some viewers find the plot divisive (especially a controversial love-triangle twist), the series doubles down on its Filipino flavor of loud family antics and emotional whiplash. At its core, this season is about growth, forgiveness, and finding humor in chaos—proving that love, even when tested by absurdity, can still win the day.

I appreciate that Benjo and Emil are still the heart of the show – their chemistry is electric and they clearly had fun with the spicier scenes. But the plot took a nosedive with that intrusive housekeeper and the baby drama; it felt like a weird soap opera. The trans characters felt a bit caricatured, though I get the cultural context. Overall, only the lead actors save this season from being a mess.

This season destroyed everything the first one built. Why would anyone insert a female character into a gay couple’s story and make her pregnant in the most dubious way? I was hopeful for the pansexual side story, but the main romance became unwatchable. I’m pretending season 2 doesn’t exist – stick to season 1 if you want a coherent narrative.

I absolutely loved this season! It’s a rollercoaster of emotions – anger, joy, tears – and it made me root for Benjo and Emil even harder. Yes, the budget is low, but the actors pour their hearts into every scene, and the steamy moments are top-notch. The found-family vibe with the trans mom and her son gave me all the feels. A hidden gem that more people should see.

The first eight episodes were decent, keeping the emotional core, but then that ridiculous pregnancy plot ruined everything. A love triangle with a woman? I’d rather have seen another male love interest – that would’ve made sense. The trans woman and her pan son were the only saving grace. Honestly, this season didn’t need to exist.

The cinematography and lighting are noticeably rough, but there’s a certain charm in its raw, indie aesthetic. The music cues are hit-or-miss. As a plot critic, I found the pacing erratic and the character motivations weak after episode 10. But I can’t deny the leads’ magnetism – they carry this show on their shoulders. Watch for them, skip the rest.
