Set against the stark backdrop of the COVID-19 lockdown in the Philippines, *Why Love Why* is a bold, satirical BL that dares to mix steamy romance with sharp social commentary. When wealthy but lonely Benjo opens his penthouse to his struggling classmate Emil so they can finish a thesis project, the forced cohabitation sparks an intense, raw attraction that neither can fully admit. But this isn’t just a rich-poor love story—it’s a layered exploration of historical injustice, corruption, and the ghosts of the Marcos regime, all wrapped in a theatrical, often absurd tone. As Benjo and Emil navigate their undeniable chemistry, they’re haunted by internalized homophobia, family legacies, and the harsh realities of a country in crisis. Meanwhile, side characters like Kelly, a transgender woman who works as a building caretaker, offer poignant reflections on faith, survival, and self-acceptance. With blazing chemistry, unflinching sexual content, and a willingness to tackle messy truths, *Why Love Why* is a love story that refuses to be simple—and that’s exactly what makes it unforgettable.

I'm absolutely wrecked by Benjo and Emil. Their chemistry is off the charts—every look, every touch feels so real. Yes, the story gets messy with politics, but when they're together on screen, I forget everything else. This is the kind of raw, passionate love that BL needs more of!

I wanted to love it, but the script is all over the place. The political satire feels tacked on and the pacing drags in the middle. The main couple's hot scenes can't fully rescue the confusing timeline and underdeveloped side plots. Still, I appreciate the ambition even if the execution is messy.

I respect the attempt to weave in class critique and trans representation, but some of the dialogue about sexuality is dated and the rape joke is absolutely inexcusable. Kelly's arc is powerful, though—she deserves her own series. Overall, a flawed but important step for Pinoy BL's maturity.

The OSTs 'Tama Ba Ito?' and 'Gawin Mo Akong Boyfriend' are stuck in my head—they perfectly capture the longing and confusion of the leads. The score during emotional scenes hits hard. Even when the plot wobbles, the music keeps me hooked. A soundtrack that elevates the whole experience!

Yes, the acting has a theatrical edge, but that's part of its charm! The lighting in the penthouse scenes is gorgeous—deep shadows that mirror the characters' internal closets. The long, wordless shots where Benjo and Emil just stare at each other are pure cinema. A visually bold series that uses its stage roots to its advantage.
