This special episode, a 10-minute bridge between seasons 1 and 2 of the beloved Taiwanese BL series, dives headfirst into the emotional turmoil of a long-distance separation. Picking up after Gao Shi De’s promise to return from America in two months, we watch as that timeline stretches into two agonizing years. Through a series of fragmented, beautifully shot scenes, the episode hints at mounting pressure on Shi De—medical bills, family obligations—while Shu Yi waits, growing more anxious and uncertain. The tension culminates in a heartbreaking misunderstanding: Shu Yi travels to America and sees Shi De with a woman and a baby, jumping to the worst conclusion. This special episode is less a standalone story and more an emotional gut-punch that sets the stage for the angst and reconciliation of the second season. It's a must-watch for fans who want to understand the origin of their five-year rift, but be prepared for confusion and unresolved feelings. The stunning cinematography and raw performances from Ray Jiang and Lin Pei Yu ensure that even in its brevity, the pain feels real.

I love that they gave us this little glimpse into what tore them apart. Yes, it's short and confusing, but the raw emotion on both their faces says everything. The music and colors made me cry. People who hated it just don't understand that it's meant to be a teaser—wait for season 2 to judge!

This felt like a 10-minute music video with no coherent plot. Shu Yi’s behavior is utterly out of character—running away without confronting Shi De? After everything they went through? The miscommunication trope is lazy, and the episode doesn't even bother to explain the medical bills or the woman. Hoping season 2 retcons this mess.

As a cinematography nerd, I was mesmerized by the lighting and framing. The scene in the grass with the baby? Gorgeous. The way they use color to show Shu Yi's world growing dim? Brilliant. Too bad the story was so fragmented. I wish they'd given us a full hour of this visual quality with more narrative coherence.

The entire conflict hinges on a lack of communication and assuming the worst, which feels regressive for a BL series that otherwise handled consent and emotional honesty well in season 1. Shu Yi's decision to ghost without even a text is a toxic response, and the episode glosses over how unhealthy that is. For a show that usually respects its characters, this was a letdown.

The OST in this special episode is hauntingly beautiful—it carries all the emotion that the rushed scenes couldn't. I've been listening to the piano theme on repeat since watching. Even if the story felt incomplete, the music alone made me feel the heartbreak. A perfect mood setter for season 2.
