We Are is a sun-drenched, chaotic love letter to friendship and young romance set against the backdrop of a Thai university. The series drops us into the lives of two interconnected friend groups, where the biggest problem isn't exams—it's navigating the tangled web of crushes, jealousy, and unexpected feelings. At the heart of the story is the bickering yet undeniable spark between art student Peem and the aloof, wealthy Phum. Their relationship ignites after a silly fight over a painting leads to a ridiculous 'master and slave' arrangement, which slowly unravels into something deeper as Phum discovers the warmth of genuine connection. Around them, three other couples bloom: the gentle senior Q and his persistent junior Toey, whose admirer act hides a quiet determination; the bubbly Tan and the seemingly stoic Fang, whose playful pursuit is pure serotonin; and the painfully slow-burn tension between Chain and Pun, two friends who can't seem to find the right moment to confess. What makes We Are special isn't just the romance—it's the unwavering support of the friend group that becomes a found family. They eat together, fight together, and inevitably, fall in love together. While the plot is intentionally light and free of heavy drama, the series captures the messy, hilarious, and heartwarming reality of being young: the pointless arguments, the late-night talks, and the quiet realization that love is better when shared with people who have your back. With a sprawling 16-episode run, it's a slow-burn comfort watch that prioritizes character moments over plot twists, making it a perfect escape for viewers who crave fluff, laughter, and the feeling of being surrounded by friends.

I don't care what anyone says—this show is pure happiness. Pond and Phuwin's chemistry is everything I wanted and more. Their 'slave' dynamic was hilarious and then turned so soft. I cried when Peem finally admitted his feelings. And all the other couples? Tan and Fang are fire, Q and Toey are adorable. Yes, it's long, but I didn't want it to end. Just give me more fluff please!

Let's be real: Tan and Fang carried this entire series. Every time they were on screen, my heart melted. Aou and Boom have this effortless chemistry that the main couple just doesn't have. I fast-forwarded through a lot of Peem/Phum scenes just to get to my boys. The show would have been perfect if they had more screen time. But still, the group friendship scenes were lovely, so I'm happy overall.

I wanted to love this because I'm a fan of slice-of-life BL, but 16 episodes of nothing happening is just too much. The first few episodes were promising, but by episode 8, I realized nothing had progressed. The main couple's 'conflict' is a joke, and the side couples get zero development until the last two episodes. The acting is fine, but the script is lazy. This should have been 10 episodes max. Disappointing.

Visually, this show is a mixed bag. The color grading is overly washed-out—everyone looks like they're coated in white flour, which is a shame because the actors have lovely skin tones. However, some shots, especially the seaside scenes and the art studio, are beautifully composed. The director clearly has an eye for framing group shots and capturing natural light. If only they dialed back the filter and stopped with the repetitive slow-motion kisses, it could have been a visual treat.

The OST is actually really nice! The main theme is catchy and fits the upbeat vibe. But oh my god, why did they let Q sing so many times? It was cute the first time, but by the fifth serenade, I was skipping. That said, the background music during emotional beats was well placed. I'd recommend the soundtrack playlist, but maybe mute the in-show karaoke scenes.

I went in expecting a cute friends-to-lovers story, but the 'master and slave' setup made me uncomfortable. Even played for comedy, the power imbalance and lack of consent in the early episodes felt off. Peem is literally forced to do Phum's bidding. The show never addresses this critically—it just romanticizes it. Later episodes improve, but the foundation is shaky. I also note the lack of mature conversations about boundaries. For a series about healthy friendships, it missed the mark on relationship dynamics.

I read the original novel before watching, so I came in with expectations. The drama keeps the core soul of the story—the friendship, the humor—but changes a lot of details. Peem is more confident in the book, and Phum's backstory is richer. The series simplifies things and adds fat where the book was lean. I missed the internal monologues and some iconic lines. Still, it's a decent adaptation if you view it as a loose interpretation. Just don't expect a 1:1 translation.

I binged this in three days and honestly, I loved every minute. Yes, it's slow, but I watched it for the comfort, not for plot twists. The group dynamic is everything—I laughed so hard at their chaotic gatherings. Tan is a treasure, and Q and Toey's cute jealousy arc had me yelling at my screen. Peem and Phum took time to grow on me, but by the end I was fully invested. If you want a show that feels like hanging out with friends, this is it.
