War of Y is a raw, unflinching anthology that tears back the glittering curtain of Thailand's BL industry to reveal the ugly wars waged behind the scenes. Split into four interconnected stories, each five-episode arc follows a different couple fighting to survive in a world where managers trade actors like commodities, producers manipulate fan sentiment, and the pressure to maintain a perfect 'ship' can shatter mental health. From a rising star being sexually exploited by his own manager, to a secret relationship weaponized by ruthless agents, to a cutthroat idol competition where rivals fake injuries for sympathy, to a love triangle that ends in public outing—the series dares to ask: how much of what fans adore is a lie? Featuring standout performances by Billy and Seng (Secret Crush On You) and a meta-narrative that blurs fact and fiction, War of Y is a dark, messy, and essential drama that refuses to look away from the industry's shadows.

I came for Billy and Seng and they absolutely broke me. Their story feels so raw and real—Pan's pain is palpable. Even though the series is dark, the chemistry between them is off the charts. I just wish they'd gotten a happier ending, but I guess that's the point. The other stories were hit or miss, but this first arc alone is worth the watch.

Twenty episodes of four disconnected stories that start strong but fall apart by the end. The first two arcs have potential, but the editing is a mess—half the screen is covered in Twitter posts, and characters vanish for 15 episodes. The Y-Idol story is a slog with weak acting, and the finale wraps everything in a rushed, nonsensical award show. This could have been excellent with tighter writing.

I appreciate the attempt to critique the BL industry's exploitation of actors and fans, but the show itself indulges in the same sensationalism it condemns. The outing of a trans character as a plot device left a bad taste in my mouth. Still, the conversations it sparks about consent, fanservice, and power dynamics are necessary—even if execution is uneven.

Honestly, the War of Managers arc with Gus and Bew was my favorite—messy, twisty, and full of betrayal. Gung and Korn have great chemistry even when the plot goes off the rails. I wish the whole series had their energy. The last story with Toru and First was also steamy but the ending confused me. Still, I'll take this over boring fluff any day.

Visually, the series is a mixed bag. Some scenes are beautifully lit and framed—especially the intimate moments in the first story—but the constant on-screen text overlays of comments and polls are distracting and poorly placed. The editing between stories is jarring. It feels like they had a great concept but no cohesive visual language to tie it together.
