In the heart of Taipei, a cozy, retro restaurant run by the charismatic chef Gu Jing (Stan Huang) is more than just a place to eat—it's a refuge. Among his regulars is Liu Li (Chen Xuan Yu), a gay romance novelist struggling with writer's block and a lingering heartbreak. From his quiet corner table, Liu Li finds an unexpected muse in the warm, attentive chef. When a tipsy confession leads to an accidental kiss, the line between customer and confidant blurs. As Gu Jing's signature beef noodles and quiet gestures begin to heal Liu Li's past wounds, the two navigate a slow-burn romance filled with stolen glances, origami notes, and the subtle art of learning to trust again. With the support of a quirky group of friends and a delightful cameo from the leads of *You Are Mine*, this Taiwanese gem celebrates finding love in the ordinary—proof that sometimes the best recipes for happiness are the simplest.

I came for the food and stayed for the feels. Stan Huang is just *chef's kiss* — his eyes say everything. Chen Xuan Yu is adorable as a flustered writer. Their scenes together gave me butterflies. Sure, the plot is simple, but sometimes you just want a warm hug in drama form. The cameo from You Are Mine was a fun bonus!

The leads have decent chemistry, but this series is a classic case of style over substance. The script leans too heavily on tired tropes—love triangle, controlling mother, childhood connection that's told not shown. I rolled my eyes through episodes 7-10. If you can switch your brain off and enjoy the fluff, you'll be fine. Otherwise, skip it.

Visually, VIP Only is a treat. The restaurant scenes are warm and golden, and the close-ups of food are mouthwatering. I love how they use color to reflect the characters' emotions—Liu Li's muted blues shift to warm oranges as he falls for Gu Jing. The camerawork is a bit shaky at times, but overall it's a pleasant watch for anyone who appreciates good framing.

I'm a sucker for a good OST, and while VIP Only's theme song is decent, it's played to death. The background music often feels cheap or mismatched with the scene. That said, the final episode uses the track beautifully. The lead actors' voices in the insert song were a nice surprise. More variety would have bumped my score up.

I wanted to love this, but some scenes made me uncomfortable. The drunken kiss at the beginning crosses a line—it's played for romance but the power dynamics are off. Later, the love triangle is handled poorly, treating Liu Li like a prize to be won. There's also a homophobic remark that feels gratuitous. The leads' chemistry is sweet, but the social messaging needs work.
