In the gripping Chinese short-form series *Until We Drown*, two stepbrothers are bound by a love that defies time itself. When one of them dies under mysterious and violent circumstances, the other is granted a second chance—a rebirth that sends him back to the pivotal moments that shattered their world. Armed with the memory of a tragic future, he vows to protect the man he loves, even if it means rewriting fate. But as dark family secrets and a dangerous obsessive resurface, the past proves relentless. Can love truly conquer destiny, or are some cycles destined to repeat? This 6-episode fantasy romance weaves together revenge, sacrifice, and heart-stopping chemistry, all set against a moody visual palette of blues and greys. A must-watch for fans of tragic, emotionally charged BL with a supernatural twist.

I am absolutely wrecked. The chemistry between the stepbrothers was off the charts—every look, every touch felt so desperate and real. The reincarnation broke my heart because they loved each other across two lifetimes and still couldn't have a happy ending. But that's what makes it beautiful, right? I can't stop thinking about them.

I wanted to like this, but the final episode turned the whole thing into a joke. The kidnapper appears out of nowhere, the fight scene is laughably choreographed, and the resolution makes no logical sense. It had a decent setup with the rebirth angle, but the execution was rushed and silly. Skip it.

Visually, this series is stunning. The blue-grey color grading perfectly captures the melancholic tone, and there's a particular beach scene that looks like a painting. The dubbing in ep1 and ep6 was distracting—sometimes the audio didn't match the actors' lips—but the overall aesthetic kept me hooked. A beautiful mess.

I appreciate that the drama doesn't shy away from showing the dark side of obsession and family abuse, but I have serious concerns about how easily non-consensual kisses are brushed aside as 'romantic.' The stepbrother relationship also needed clearer boundaries—are they biologically related or not? The subtitles were inconsistent. Worth watching for the conversation it sparks, but handle with care.
