In the seemingly ordinary halls of a culinary science school, Pipe's world transforms when he musters the courage to confess his feelings to the radiant Newt—and, miraculously, Newt says yes. What begins as a rosy, sweet romance quickly takes a turn when happiness begins to slip through Pipe's fingers.

UniverSad dives deep into the emotional turbulence of first love, the fragility of joy, and the quiet pain of watching something beautiful crumble. With heartfelt performances from Patrick Rangsimant and a tender portrayal of queer love, this Thai BL drama explores how even the most hopeful beginnings can lead to heartbreak. More than a simple romance, it's a nuanced story about vulnerability, self-discovery, and the bittersweet beauty of loving someone even when it hurts. Perfect for viewers who appreciate emotional depth and realistic relationship struggles.

I was not prepared for this. The confession scene made my heart soar, and then the second half completely shattered me. Pipe and Newt felt so real—the way they held each other, the longing in their eyes. This is the kind of BL that reminds you why you fell in love with the genre in the first place. Absolutely beautiful and painful.

The emotional beats are there, but the pacing feels rushed. We jump from happy couple to heartbreaking fallout without enough development in between. I wanted to see more of their relationship before the fall. Still, Patrick's performance carries a lot of weight, and the central theme of loss is handled with care. Just wished the script gave us more time.

Visually, UniverSad is a quiet gem. The soft color palette, the way the lighting shifts from warm golds to cool blues as the mood changes—it's storytelling through imagery. The close-ups during the breakup scene are devastating because you can see every tear and tremor. A masterclass in using visuals to amplify emotion.

I appreciate that the series doesn't villainize either character during the breakup. It shows that sometimes love isn't enough, and that's a mature message. The communication—or lack thereof—feels painfully realistic for young adults. My only critique is that the power dynamics in the relationship could have been explored a bit deeper. Still, a refreshingly nuanced take on queer heartbreak.

The soundtrack is absolutely haunting. Every song perfectly captures the shift from hope to despair—especially the piano piece that plays during the final episode. I've been listening to the OST on repeat. It adds so much emotional weight to scenes that are already powerful. Music lovers, do not sleep on this series.
