If you’ve ever had to hide a part of yourself from family, *Uninvited* will hit painfully close to home. This heartfelt 20-minute South Korean short film packs an emotional punch that belies its brief runtime. Jeong Ho lives a quiet double life in Seoul, sharing his apartment with his boyfriend in a relationship kept secret from everyone. When his mother makes an unannounced visit, the carefully constructed walls of Jeong Ho’s world begin to crack. What starts as a comedic scramble—hiding photos, banishing his partner to the bedroom, and masking the truth under cheerful lies—slowly unravels into a tender exploration of identity, trust, and unconditional love. The film masterfully balances humor and heartache, using everyday domesticity (like a mother’s instinctive urge to clean) to underscore deeper tensions. With naturalistic performances, especially from Lee Seung Yeob as the conflicted son and Kim Geun Yeong as the perceptive mother, *Uninvited* captures the universal fear of being truly seen. It’s a quiet, beautifully nuanced story about the courage it takes to let the people we love know who we really are.

I'm a sucker for a sweet gay love story, and this little gem delivered! The chemistry between the leads is so natural and warm, even with limited screen time. And that ending during the credits? Absolutely melted my heart. More people need to see this!

It's a decent short film, but let's not oversell it. The premise is predictable and the 'hidden boyfriend' trope is overdone. That said, the execution is solid and the mother's performance saves it from being cliché. Worth 20 minutes, but I wouldn't rewatch.

The cinematography here is surprisingly good for a short film. The warm color palette inside the apartment contrasts beautifully with the cold Seoul winter outside. Every shot feels intentional—the placement of the mother in the frame during the tense scenes really amplifies her quiet awareness. A visual treat.

I appreciate how *Uninvited* handles the closet without making it all about trauma. The boyfriend is supportive, the mother is perceptive but not cruel, and the son's fear feels real but not exploitative. It's a healthy, nuanced portrayal of what coming out can look like—messy, scary, but ultimately okay.

The music in this short film is subtle but perfect. The piano score during the phone call scene had me tearing up—it complemented the emotions without overpowering them. I wish the OST was available on streaming services. A small but memorable soundscape.
