Childhood friends Ho Tae and Dong Hee grew up like brothers, their bond unbreakable until Ho Tae moved away. Years later, a tragic funeral forces Ho Tae back to their coastal hometown, where he finds Dong Hee living alone in his family's empty house—kicked out by his own father after coming out. Reunited under one roof, the air thickens with unspoken longing. Dong Hee, now a quiet and reserved student council president, has secretly loved Ho Tae for years. Meanwhile, Ho Tae, a talented swimmer, is thrown into confusion by feelings he can't name, trying to escape into shallow relationships. As summer unfolds, stolen glances and electric touches blur the lines of their brotherly bond. Directed with intimate, indie-film sensitivity, 'The Time of Fever' is a gorgeously aching prequel that explores first love, identity, and the painful beauty of yearning. It captures the tremors of queer youth—the fear, the desire, and the courage it takes to finally say what the heart already knows.

I'm usually too shy to write reviews, but this film stole my heart. The chemistry between Won Tae Min and Do Woo is INSANE—every longing look and awkward touch felt so real. I cried, I smiled, I rewound their kiss scene at least five times. It's the kind of love story that makes you believe in soulmates. If you want a drama that will wreck you in the best way, this is it.

Wow. I went in for the romance but stayed for the cinematography. The way the director uses color—the cool blues of solitude shifting to warm yellows during moments of connection—is brilliant. The sound design, where everything goes quiet except Ho Tae's breathing, pulled me right into Dong Hee's POV. It feels like an indie film, not a typical BL. A visual and emotional feast.

I appreciate the acting and production quality, but the repetitive 'we're both guys, so it doesn't matter' dialogue drove me crazy. Both leads are frustratingly cowardly—Dong Hee running away, Ho Tae refusing to communicate. The ending left a bitter taste, even knowing it's a prequel. It drags in the middle and feels like going in circles. Worth watching for the talent, but don't expect a satisfying payoff.

As a queer viewer, I appreciate that the drama tackles homophobia and internalized shame, but it's frustrating how one-sided the narrative is. Dong Hee's backstory—his aunt, his dreams—gets barely a mention. The power dynamics feel uneven, and Ho Tae's 'persistent' advances sometimes cross into uncomfortable territory. It's a beautiful film, but it could have been more balanced and nuanced in its character development.
