When Mark Lee’s home is flooded, his ex-boyfriend Henry asks his best friend Lukas to take him in. What begins as a seemingly innocent cohabitation quickly spirals into a psychological nightmare. This dark Pinoy BL miniseries peels back the layers of codependency, jealousy, and violence lurking beneath a fragile new romance. As the lines between affection and possession blur, viewers are thrust into a tense, mind-bending thriller where nothing is as it seems. Set during COVID-19 lockdown, *Unguarded* serves as a crucial bridge between the events of *Hook Up* and the upcoming *One Night Stand Bangkok*, following Mark Lee on his most harrowing journey yet—where survival might mean losing yourself.

The premise had promise, but the writing let it down. Lukas’s backstory is barely touched, and Mark Lee remains frustratingly passive. The twist felt rushed, and the cliffhanger left me more annoyed than intrigued. The actors are trying their best, but the script doesn't give them enough to work with.

I came for the cute boys and stayed for the gut-wrenching tension. Marky and Niko have incredible chemistry—even when things get scary, you can feel the love and pain between them. Yes, it's dark, but that's what makes it memorable. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time!

Visually, this is a step up from J.ACE's earlier work—the outdoor scenes and moody lighting really sell the isolated, claustrophobic atmosphere. But I was disappointed they reused the same OST from Hook Up. The background music in the final episodes felt too soapy and undercut the horror.

While I appreciate the series tackling toxic relationships and mental health, the execution is messy. Lukas's violence is portrayed as a psychotic break without proper context, which can stigmatize mental illness. The power dynamics are explored, but not critically enough. It’s a flawed but important conversation starter.

The reuse of the same song from Hook Up is a major letdown for a series that wants to stand on its own. The background score in the last two episodes is so melodramatic it killed the suspense for me. A fresh soundtrack could have elevated the psychological tension. Disappointing audio experience.
