For two decades, Art has carried a secret so heavy it shaped his entire adult life: the love of his life has always been Ploy, his sister's boyfriend. After their forbidden teenage connection ended abruptly, Art buried his feelings, built a new life as an orphan navigating the world alone, and convinced himself he had moved on. But when Ploy suddenly appears at his doorstep one rainy evening, the fragile peace Art has constructed shatters. This 40-minute Thai short film masterfully unpacks the emotional minefield of a reunion that shouldn't happen—where every lingering glance and hesitant word threatens to reignite a flame that could devastate family bonds. Through intimate close-ups and a quiet, melancholic score, *Tuberose* explores what it means to finally confront a first love that was never truly over, and whether some affections can ever truly be forgotten. Neither a simple romance nor a melodrama, it's a poignant meditation on longing, regret, and the painful courage of choosing honesty after years of silence.

I'm a sucker for heart-wrenching reunions, and Tuberose delivered. The chemistry between the two leads is so subtle yet electric—you can feel every ounce of their decades-old longing. The ending had me in tears. It's short but so emotionally packed. Definitely one of my favorite Thai short films.

The concept is intriguing, but the execution felt rushed. The dialogue is overly poetic at times, and the pacing drags in the middle. I wanted more backstory to understand why these two were so intensely connected beyond a teenage crush. Decent for a one-time watch, but not groundbreaking.

Visually, this short is stunning. The use of warm amber tones in the present vs. cool blue in flashbacks beautifully mirrors the emotional distance. The shot of the tuberose flower wilting on the doorstep is pure poetry. I wish the script had matched the visuals in subtlety, but the cinematography alone makes it worth watching.

While the performances are sincere, I struggled with the ethical implications. The film romanticizes a situation where one character is essentially betraying a sibling's trust. There's little acknowledgment of the sister's perspective or the potential harm. For viewers sensitive to relationship ethics, this may feel uncomfortable rather than romantic.

The music in Tuberose is hauntingly beautiful—a simple piano melody that repeats and builds like a restrained heartbeat. It perfectly amplifies the unsaid words between the characters. I've been searching for the OST ever since. The sound design alone elevates the entire short.
