Life partners Long and Tung have built a world of quiet intimacy and unwavering love, but their bond is tested by the physical distance that comes with Tung's frequent business trips abroad. As Long struggles with the gnawing loneliness of empty days and sleepless nights, the couple fights to keep their connection alive through video calls, shared memories, and the hope of reunion. However, fate has a cruel twist in store—one that forces Long to confront the fragility of happiness and the indelible traces a loved one leaves behind. This tender, Hong Kong–made short film is a poignant meditation on love, loss, and the small, everyday gestures that become sacred after someone is gone. With understated performances and a hauntingly beautiful visual language, 'Traces of You' captures the ache of absence and the quiet strength it takes to keep loving even when the world falls apart. A must-watch for fans of emotionally charged, realistic queer storytelling.

I am absolutely shattered in the best way. Long and Tung's love feels so real—I cried through the entire second half. The way they look at each other, the little routines, the longing... it's everything I want in a BL romance. Yes, it's sad, but it's also so beautiful. I'll never forget this film.

Emotionally effective, sure, but as a narrative it feels too condensed. The death happens so suddenly that we don't get enough time with the couple's happy moments to truly feel the weight. It relies heavily on mood rather than story structure. The acting saves it, but I wish it had been a longer feature to flesh out the characters.

Visually stunning. The color grading shifts from warm golden tones in the flashbacks to cold, desaturated blues in the present—it tells the story without a single line of dialogue. Every frame is composed like a photograph. That shot of Long standing in the empty apartment with the sunlight fading? Pure art.

I appreciate that this film treats its queer relationship with total normalcy—no coming-out trauma, no societal judgment. It's just two men in love dealing with a universal human experience. The grief is handled with sensitivity, though I would have liked to see more of Long's support system beyond the romance. Still, a respectful and needed piece of queer cinema.

The piano score is heartbreakingly beautiful. There's a recurring motif that plays during Long's solo scenes—it's simple but builds into a crescendo of pain. I've been replaying it on repeat since watching. The sound design is minimal, letting silence speak, which makes the music hit even harder.
