In the heart of Seoul, a fading star and a hidden gem collide. Kang Seo Joon was once the brightest name in K-entertainment, but after a scandal and a string of flops, he finds himself a shadow of his former glory. Desperate for a fresh start, he accidentally stumbles into a cozy, rustic restaurant run by Han Ji Woo—a chef whose world is built on order, quiet routine, and walls so high they could rival any fortress. When Seo Joon's agent arranges for him to lay low at a remote countryside villa, he never expects to find Ji Woo already living there, the reserved and seemingly cold chef who wants nothing to do with a celebrity. What begins as a tense, awkward cohabitation soon turns into an unexpected dance of opposites. Seo Joon's warm, golden-retriever energy chips away at Ji Woo's icy exterior, revealing a man who carries deep wounds from a past he refuses to discuss. Meanwhile, Ji Woo's quiet stability becomes the anchor Seo Joon’s chaotic life desperately needs. Shot with stunning cinematography that captures both the bustling city lights and the serene Korean countryside, *To My Star* is a masterclass in showing rather than telling. The story unfolds naturally through stolen glances, shared meals, and the kind of silence that speaks louder than words. It doesn't shy away from the realities of fame—the invasive media, the threat of scandal, and the homophobia that lurks beneath a seemingly progressive surface. But at its core, this is a love story about two broken people learning that vulnerability isn't weakness, and that the brightest stars are often found in the most unexpected places. With only nine short episodes, it proves that you don't need a sprawling runtime to create a deeply moving, beautifully acted, and genuinely romantic experience.

I am absolutely OBSESSED. Seo Joon and Ji Woo have my whole heart. The way Seo Joon just smiles and breaks through all of Ji Woo's walls? And Ji Woo slowly letting himself be loved? It's everything I want in a romance. That last kiss had me screaming into my pillow—finally, a BL that gives us REAL passion! I've already rewatched it three times. If you want to feel warm and fuzzy and believe in love again, watch this now.

The visual storytelling here is stunning. Every frame feels deliberate—the soft lighting in the restaurant, the golden hour shots of the countryside, the way the camera lingers on Ji Woo's hands while he cooks. Director Hwang Da Seul has an incredible eye for composition. Even the simple scenes of them eating noodles are shot with such warmth and intimacy. The color grading perfectly shifts from cold blues to warm ambers as their relationship grows. A feast for the eyes that elevates the simple story into something truly beautiful.

I'm going against the grain here because everyone seems to be giving this a 10. The romance itself is cute, I'll admit. But the writing is a mess. They try to cram in so many subplots—the random English-speaking reporter, the intern leaving and coming back, the unexplained backstory of Ji Woo's family, the weird 'studied abroad' line—that none of them get proper closure. It's like they had a checklist of tropes but no time to develop them. If you focus ONLY on the main couple's scenes, it's enjoyable. But as a complete narrative? Frustratingly incomplete. The short runtime is an excuse, not a feature.

The OST is the hidden gem of this series. 'Left Hand' by NewKidd is an absolute bop and perfectly captures the fluttering feeling of falling in love. The instrumental piano pieces during the emotional scenes are so tender and well-placed. My only complaint is that there aren't MORE songs—the soundtrack feels sparse. When the music hits during the rooftop scene, it elevates everything. I've added it to my daily playlist. Wish there was an official full OST release!

Let's talk about consent and representation. I was thrilled to see a Korean BL where the gay lead (Seo Joon) is confident in his identity without the 'I only like him, not men' nonsense. That's progress. However, the first kiss—where Seo Joon kisses Ji Woo without clear verbal consent—is concerning, even if it's played as romantic. It leads to a scandal that actually feels realistic for conservative Korea. The show does address it: Ji Woo gets angry, and there's a real conversation about boundaries. I appreciate that complexity. Overall, it's a step forward for LGBTQ+ visibility in K-dramas, even if it's not perfect.

I CRIED. This show made me feel so lonely in the most beautiful way. Ji Woo is such a grumpy cat and Seo Joon is a golden retriever—I live for that dynamic! Their growth is so organic. The scene where Ji Woo finally breaks down and cries? Son Woo Hyun's acting is incredible. I didn't even care about the short episodes because every second is packed with meaning. The way Seo Joon looks at Ji Woo like he hung the moon... I need a relationship like this. 10/10 would recommend to anyone who wants to believe in love again.

I'll give credit where it's due: the chemistry is off the charts, and the final kiss is genuinely impressive for a Korean BL. But the story feels like a sketch rather than a full drama. Why does Ji Woo have panic attacks when something breaks? What happened at the bar that night? The plot jumps around and expects us to fill in gaps. I wanted more. It's nice for a quick watch, but don't expect a fleshed-out world. The side characters are more like props than people. If you're a hardcore plot person like me, you might feel a bit unsatisfied. Still, it's sweet, just not deep.
