In this delightfully chaotic Filipino comedy-romance, Lester’s world shatters when he catches his long-term boyfriend, Mike, down on one knee—not for him, but for Gemma, a woman. Devastated and desperate, Lester concocts a hilariously misguided plan to sabotage the impending marriage by winning Gemma over himself. What follows is a rollercoaster of mistaken identities, awkward encounters, and unexpected alliances that forces Lester to confront his own assumptions about love, loyalty, and what it truly means to fight for someone. With sharp wit, a talented ensemble cast led by Vincent de Jesus, and a refreshingly honest look at the messiness of modern relationships, *This Guy's in Love with U Mare!* blends laugh-out-loud moments with genuine emotional stakes. More than just a story about heartbreak, it’s a celebration of resilience, queer joy, and the absurd lengths we go to for the people we care about—even when we’re not sure why anymore.

I went in expecting just a silly comedy but ended up really caring about Lester and his chaotic plan. The acting is surprisingly solid, and the emotional beats sneaked up on me. A hidden gem of early Filipino BL!

The film has charming moments but suffers from uneven pacing and some clunky dialogue. The premise is fun, but the execution feels like a stage play that never quite becomes cinematic. Still, worth a watch for the cultural context.

The color grading and framing in a few scenes are surprisingly creative for such a low-budget film. The director makes great use of confined spaces to heighten comedic tension. Not a masterpiece, but visually more interesting than you’d expect.

I appreciate that the film tries to humanize everyone, but the overall message about 'fighting for love' after cheating felt a bit problematic. Lester’s plan to win over Gemma is funny in theory but skirts some ethical lines that deserve more critical examination.

The background music and original songs add so much personality to this film. There’s this one piano motif that plays during the emotional scenes—it’s simple but really sticks with you. The soundtrack alone makes it worth a watch for music lovers.
