Welcome to the world of Theory of Love, a Thai BL drama that hits you right in the heart with its raw, honest portrayal of unrequited love, friendship, and the messy journey of self-discovery. At its core, this is the story of Third (played by the incredibly expressive Gun Atthaphan), a film major and a member of the tight-knit 'Savage Team' along with his best friends Two, Bone, and Khai. For three agonizing years, Third has harbored a deep, secret love for his charismatic but oblivious friend Khai (Off Jumpol), a notorious womanizer who treats Third more like a personal assistant than a potential romantic partner. The series masterfully uses the lens of classic romantic movies—each episode title is a homage to a famous rom-com—to frame Third's inner monologue and heartbreak. But this is no simple pining story. After years of being taken for granted, Third finally decides to move on, only for Khai to suddenly realize what he's about to lose. The tables turn spectacularly, forcing Khai to confront his own feelings, sexuality, and selfish behavior. What makes Theory of Love special is its unflinching honesty: it doesn't shy away from showing the frustration, the toxic patterns, and the sheer agony of loving someone who doesn't see you. With top-tier cinematography, a killer soundtrack, and standout performances from the entire cast—including Earth Katsamonnat and White Nawat as the adorable side couple—this series is a rollercoaster of emotions that will make you laugh, cry, and scream at your screen. It's a must-watch for anyone who believes love is messy, complicated, and worth fighting for.

I went into Theory of Love expecting a typical fluffy BL, but I got so much more. Third's journey broke my heart into a million pieces – I cried with him, I screamed at Khai through the screen. The way Gun portrays that raw, painful love is just... unreal. And when Khai finally wakes up? The train station scene destroyed me. Yes, it's frustrating, but that's what makes it real. The film references are a bonus. This drama stays with you long after the credits roll. Definitely one of my top BLs!

I can see why people love this, but for me, it was a missed opportunity. The first half drags with Third's constant suffering, and then Khai's sudden 180-degree change in feelings felt completely unearned. How does a straight womanizer fall in love with his best friend just because he saw a video? No real exploration of his sexuality or character growth. The side plots (Bone/teacher, Two/Aun) were underdeveloped and sometimes creepy. Gun acts his heart out, but even he can't fix the writing. Good cinematography though.

As someone who cares deeply about representation, Theory of Love left me with mixed feelings. On one hand, I appreciate showing the pain of unrequited love and the complexity of a closeted crush. On the other hand, the show treats female characters as disposable props and never addresses Khai's sudden shift in sexuality – he just 'turns gay' for Third. The non-consensual kiss scene is glossed over. Also, Third's self-pitying behavior can be toxic. It's a step forward in emotional realism but a step back in social awareness.

Visually, this is one of the best BLs I've seen. The color grading, the framing, the way every episode pays homage to a classic rom-com – it's a love letter to cinema. The train station scene is shot like a K-drama. The soundtrack by Getsunova is perfect. I also loved how they used the film major setting to create metaphors. Yes, the plot has flaws, but the aesthetic experience makes up for it. Off and Gun's chemistry is palpable. A feast for the eyes.

I am obsessed with the OST of Theory of Love! From the opening theme to the piano pieces during Third's breakdowns, every song hits exactly right. 'The Nearness of You' cover gives me chills. The music perfectly amplifies the angst and joy. I actually discovered Getsunova because of this show. If you're a soundtrack lover, this drama is a must-watch. The emotional resonance wouldn't be half as strong without the music. 10/10 for audio experience.

I'm here for Two and Aun! Their side story was way more interesting to me than the main couple. Earth and White have incredible chemistry – the pond scene? Electric. I wish GMMTV had given them a full spinoff. The main story dragged for me (Third's shower scenes got old fast), but I pushed through just to see glimpses of Two and Aun. Their ending was sweet but too short. If you're a fan of Earth or White, watch for them. Don't expect a lot of screen time though.

I honestly don't get the hype. Theory of Love is a prime example of style over substance. Khai is one of the most unlikeable characters I've ever seen – he's selfish, uses Third, and his 'redemption' is laughably fast. Third is a doormat who needs to grow a spine. The logic of the romance makes zero sense. And can we talk about how every female character is either crazy or has huge boobs? This is not progress, it's fetishization. Save your time and watch 'Not Me' instead.
