The Usual Night is a genre-bending series that blurs the lines between reality and fiction, offering an intimate, fly-on-the-wall look into the daily lives of the members of Fantastics From EXILE TRIBE. Set in a cozy Tokyo dormitory, the show follows the group’s real-life personalities as they navigate work, friendships, and subtle romantic tensions—all while cooking meals, playing games, and sharing late-night conversations. While some storylines are scripted (like the budding relationship between Leiya and Natsuki, or the playful chemistry between Yusei and Leiya), the series maintains an unscripted, documentary-like warmth that makes every moment feel genuine. With a focus on found-family dynamics, light humor, and heartfelt slice-of-life moments, The Usual Night is a charming, low-stakes watch that rewards both longtime fans of the group and newcomers curious about the softer side of idol life. It’s the perfect cozy escape for anyone craving authentic character interactions and a glimpse behind the curtain of Japan’s entertainment world.

I appreciate the concept—a fake documentary that lets idols play themselves—but the lack of a strong narrative makes it feel meandering at times. The romance is sweet but underdeveloped, and without prior knowledge of the group, I was often lost. It’s a nice mood piece, but not a must-watch.

I came for Yusei after My Beautiful Man and stayed for the cozy dorm vibes. The Yusei/Leiya interactions had me grinning nonstop—they have this quiet, natural chemistry that feels so real. The show really pulled emotions out of me, especially in the final episode. I desperately need a second season!

The cinematography is surprisingly beautiful for a low-budget fake doc—the soft lighting in the dorm, the candid framing, the way the camera lingers on small expressions. It captures a very authentic slice of Japanese everyday life. Yusei’s subtle facial acting is a joy to watch. Aesthetically, it’s a warm hug.

The Jenga scene? That song is an absolute banger—I’ve had it on repeat. The background music throughout is understated but perfectly complements the relaxed tone. I wish the OST were available officially. The way music is woven into their daily routines makes everything feel more alive.
