In 'The Trainee', passionate but directionless university student Ryan stumbles into an internship as an assistant director at a bustling production company. There, he meets Jane, a brilliant but emotionally guarded assistant director known for extinguishing the creative fire of those around him with his sharp critiques. Ryan's struggle to find his footing is shared with a quirky group of fellow interns, including the ambitious Ba-Mhee and her neglectful boyfriend Tae, alongside the supportive duo Pah and Pie. As Ryan navigates the high-pressure world of filmmaking, he discovers that Jane's harsh exterior hides a deep well of vulnerability, and a slow-burn connection begins to form between them. But with office politics, personal insecurities, and a toxic working environment testing their limits, the series becomes a heartfelt exploration of self-discovery, friendship, and the courage to pursue one's dreams. Blending sharp comedy with genuine drama, 'The Trainee' offers a refreshingly realistic look at the messy, rewarding journey of growing up and finding your path.

I came for OffGun and got a frustrating bait-and-switch. The writing is lazy—conflicts resolve in minutes, and the five-year time jump is an insult to any sense of emotional logic. Jane ghosting Ryan for half a decade and then getting back together without any real conversation? Pure cop-out. The side couple's cheating arc was also poorly handled. Only the intern friendship and some genuine laughs saved it from a lower score.

Off and Gun have such natural chemistry even in the smallest moments—I lived for those rare soft glances and the way Ryan’s lips always looked ready for a kiss! But man, did they give us crumbs. They deserved way more screen time. The ending felt rushed and unrealistic, but I still loved the vibe and the hilarious office awkwardness. Not their best work, but I’ll take any OffGun content I can get.

I’m deeply troubled by this show’s normalization of unethical workplace dynamics. A supervisor kissing a drunk intern and then facing zero consequences? Judy should have lost her job. The cheating arc is glossed over as if growth can happen without accountability. And Jane’s emotional withdrawal and ghosting are framed as romantic devotion rather than a red flag. The series misses a huge opportunity to model healthy consent and communication.

Forget the plot complaints—this is one of the most visually stunning Thai dramas of the year. The color grading is bold and deliberate, the office sets feel lived-in and creative, and the editing style keeps you engaged even in slower scenes. I loved how the camera mirrored the chaotic energy of a production set. Every frame is a treat. If only the script matched the production quality, this would be a masterpiece.

I actually tuned in for the Ba-Mhee/Tae/Judy triangle—the tension and forbidden feelings were more interesting to me than the main couple. But what a letdown! Judy’s character suddenly flips from professional to reckless, then everyone just forgives and forgets? Ba-Mhee should have left them both. The reconciliation felt cheap. Still, Kapook and Piploy had strong chemistry and deserved a better written arc. I wanted more of their angst.
