In the summer of 2013, Ko Ho Tae returns to his coastal hometown of Gangneung for his father's funeral, only to find his childhood best friend, Kim Dong Hui, already living in his empty house. Dong Hui was kicked out by his father after coming out as gay, and the two reunite after years apart. Now 17, Ho Tae is a promising swimmer struggling with grief and confusion, while Dong Hui, two years older, is a quiet top student hiding his long-buried feelings for his 'brother.' As they share a roof, their easy camaraderie gives way to charged glances and unspoken tension. Ho Tae, grappling with unfamiliar emotions, seeks distractions in fleeting relationships, while Dong Hui tries to suppress his heartache. But a single, impulsive request—'Teach me how to kiss'—shatters their careful distance. This achingly beautiful prequel to *Unintentional Love Story* captures the bittersweet intensity of first love, the pain of self-discovery, and the aching warmth of a touch that lingers. With stunning seaside cinematography and a hauntingly tender score, *The Time of Fever* is a slow-burn emotional journey that will leave you both breathless and heartbroken.

My heart is still racing hours after finishing this. Won Tae Min and Do Woo are just... incredible together. The way Ho Tae looks at Dong Hui like he’s the whole universe, and how Dong Hui trembles every time they touch—pure, aching perfection. I cried, I giggled, I screamed into my pillow. The beach scenes? Don’t even get me started. This is how you do yearning, people! If you love soulmate-level chemistry, WATCH THIS NOW.

The cinematography alone is worth the watch. Every shot is meticulously composed—the soft golden light filtering through curtains, the reflection of the ocean in Dong Hui’s eyes, the way rain blurs the background during their first kiss. The color grading shifts from warm, nostalgic tones to cooler, melancholic hues as their emotions spiral. It’s easily one of the most visually poetic Korean BLs I’ve seen. The story is simple, but the visuals elevate it into art.

I wanted to love this more, but the pacing dragged in the middle and the ending left me frustrated. The emotional beats are strong, but the characters' decisions often felt illogical—especially Dong Hui’s refusal to communicate when Ho Tae makes it painfully obvious he likes him. Coming from the original drama, I expected more resolution. It’s beautifully made, but as a story, it stumbles. Great acting, average plotting.

While I adored the chemistry, I can’t ignore the problematic aspects. Dong Hui’s father physically assaults him for being gay, and the series doesn’t fully address the trauma or show any real healing—just implied aftereffects. Also, Ho Tae’s initial impulse to kiss Dong Hui without clear verbal consent (though welcomed) could be a teaching moment. The show glosses over these issues in favor of aesthetic longing. Still, the performances are nuanced, and it’s a step forward for K-BL to depict homophobia realistically.

The soundtrack is absolutely haunting. Won Tae Min’s OST 'What If' plays during the most tender scenes and I had to pause just to absorb how perfectly the melody captures their longing. The instrumental piano pieces during the night swimming scene gave me chills. Even B1A4’s closing track fits like a glove. The music doesn’t just accompany the story—it tells it. I’ve already added half the songs to my daily playlist.
