When naive countryside dreamer Geum Bok moves to Seoul to pursue his acting ambitions, he quickly learns the city is no fairy tale—until he’s literally kissed by one. Bi Hyeong, a centuries-old dokkaebi (goblin king), rescues the flustered aspiring actor from a scam gone wrong, only to realize Geum Bok possesses a rare ability: he can safely transfer life essence to replenish Bi Hyeong’s fading powers. Thrust into a supernatural cohabitation, Geum Bok gets protection and rent-free housing in exchange for his energetic “payments.” But as the two navigate ghostly threats, a jealous nine-tailed fox ex-lover, and a meddling goddess disguised as a schoolgirl, their transactional arrangement begins to spark something deeper. Blending Korean folklore with modern-day chaos, this whimsical romp explores destiny, found family, and whether a mortal and an immortal can truly write their own happily-ever-after.

I am absolutely besotted with Geum Bok and Bi Hyeong! Their awkward cohabitation, the way Bi Hyeong reluctantly softens, and that one passionate kiss in episode 10 had me kicking my feet. Yes, the fantasy lore can be confusing, but the heart of this show is pure sweetness. If you love a slow-burn with magical vibes, don't skip this.

The concept is original but the execution is a mess. Episodes 1-4 waste time on confusing flashbacks and lackluster exposition; we don't get crucial backstory until episode 9. The main couple's chemistry feels transactional for too long, and the side couple's resolution is rushed to a 2-minute scene. It's an okay watch if you're into folklore, but don't expect airtight storytelling.

I came for the goblins but stayed for Ji Gwi and Gil Dal. Their centuries-old angst, the unresolved tension, and that bittersweet reunion in the finale had me crying. The main couple is cute but pales in comparison. I wish the writers gave this pair more screen time instead of padding with random ghosts. Still, their story alone is worth the watch.

The animated intro sequences are gorgeous—like a moving watercolor storybook that perfectly sets the mythic mood. However, the live-action costumes and period flashbacks look cheap and underwhelming. The color grading in modern scenes is warm and cozy, but the show's visual ambition outruns its budget. I'd watch it just for the animations, though.

I appreciate the attempt at supernatural world-building, but I have concerns about the transactional nature of the main relationship—essence-for-protection blurs consent lines. The non-consensual kiss early on is brushed off as comedic, which left a bad taste. The second couple's redemption arc is better handled. Fine for those who enjoy light fantasy, but watch with awareness.
