A group of college students embarks on a field trip to a remote Thai village to research the legend of Si Phueng Na Na Nai, an ancient love spell shrouded in mystery. As they dig deeper into local folklore, the line between academic curiosity and dangerous obsession blurs. Strange occurrences begin to plague the group—whispers in the dark, eerie rituals, and a growing tension that tests their bonds. This six-episode miniseries blends supernatural horror with budding romance, as two male leads find themselves drawn together amidst the chaos. What starts as a scholarly pursuit quickly becomes a fight for survival, forcing the students to confront not only the spell’s dark power but their own hidden desires. Shot in an intimate vertical format, *The Spell* offers a distinctive visual style that amplifies the claustrophobic dread. With nods to classic slasher tropes and a twist ending that lingers, this Thai indie series is a rare hybrid of heart-pounding fear and tender, unexpected love.

I am such a sucker for horror BL and this one delivered! The chemistry between the two leads was intense and the scary moments made their romance even more thrilling. Yes, the plot was a bit messy, but I was too busy screaming and swooning to care. Definitely a hidden gem for fans of both genres.

The concept had so much potential but the execution felt rushed and confusing. The vertical format was gimmicky and made some scenes hard to follow. The acting saved it from being a total mess, and I will admit the twist at the end was satisfying. Decent if you're desperate for BL horror but don't expect a masterpiece.

I was skeptical about the vertical format, but it actually works surprisingly well for the claustrophobic horror vibe. The color grading is moody and the framing often feels intimate, almost like a video diary. Not everything lands visually, but the creative ambition is commendable. A feast for the eyes if you appreciate experimental directing.

That OST absolutely slaps! I immediately looked up the theme song after the first episode. The music builds tension perfectly and the vocal tracks are surprisingly emotional. The series itself has pacing issues, but the audio experience alone makes it worth a watch. I just wish the story was as cohesive as the soundtrack.

I wanted to love this for its representation, but the handling of consent in some scenes left a bad taste. The horror elements rely on typical tropey scares, and the romance felt rushed amid the chaos. It's nice to see queer characters in a horror setting, but I wish the writing had treated the relationships with more care. Proceed with awareness.
