In this charming 8-minute Thai short film, we meet Bas, a young man whose heart has just been shattered by his crush, Maple. The reason? She rejected him because he seemed 'too gay.' Enter his loyal friend A, who tries to lift his spirits with unwavering support and a simple but powerful message: you don't need to change who you are. But Bas, determined to win love, embarks on a humorous yet poignant journey to appear 'less gay'—with unexpected results. What follows is a compact but emotionally resonant story about self-acceptance, friendship, and the courage to be authentic. Despite its brief runtime and lighthearted tone, *The Right One* packs a genuine emotional punch, blending comedy with a heartfelt lesson. Originally produced as a brand advertisement, the film cleverly weaves product placement into a relatable narrative, making it a unique gem in the BL landscape. With its positive LGBTQ+ representation and a sweet, uplifting ending, this short is a quick mood-booster that leaves you smiling and maybe a little teary-eyed. It's a perfect pick for anyone needing a dose of warmth and affirmation in under ten minutes.

I literally cried happy tears in 8 minutes. The way Bas tries to change himself broke my heart, but then A's support and that ending? Perfection. This is the kind of short that reminds you why you fell in love with BL in the first place. So much heart in so little time!

It's cute, but let's be real—this is an ad. The product placement is obvious and the character development is limited by the runtime. Still, I appreciate the positive message about not changing for others. For a commercial, it's better than most, but don't expect a full drama experience.

Visually, this short is surprisingly polished. The color grading is warm and inviting, and the framing of those emotional close-ups (especially the last two minutes) is beautifully done. For an 8-minute ad, the cinematography punches way above its weight.

I love that this short tackles internalized homophobia and the pressure to conform. A's support is a great example of allyship, and the ending doesn't force a romantic resolution. My only wish is that it showed more diverse reactions to Bas's identity. Still, a solid, socially-conscious watch for its length.

The background music is surprisingly effective—it sets the emotional tone perfectly without overpowering the dialogue. That little guitar riff during the turning point? Chills. I wish the soundtrack were available to stream. It elevates the whole short.
