Heartbroken resort owner Athit has shut himself off from the world after a painful breakup, focusing solely on renovating the crumbling seaside property he inherited. When aspiring writer P accidentally books a stay at the still-closed resort, their worlds collide in a clash of gruff solitude and eager curiosity. Forced to host the persistent guest, Athit finds his carefully guarded walls slowly crumbling as P’s playful charm and genuine interest in the resort’s story begin to thaw his frozen heart. As the two spend days painting, swimming, and sharing meals under the sun, they discover unexpected common ground—both are seeking something they lost: hope, inspiration, and a reason to open up again. But when P’s research for his novel starts blurring the line between fiction and reality, their fragile connection is tested. This sun-drenched Thai miniseries is a tender, low-stakes romance about two lost souls learning that sometimes the most beautiful renovations happen not in buildings, but in hearts.

I absolutely melted watching Athit and P. Their chemistry is so natural and the way they slowly open up to each other feels real and earned. Yes, the plot is simple, but that's exactly why I loved it—it's a warm hug of a show. The beach setting is to die for, and that unexpected tied-up scene in episode 2 had me blushing like crazy. If you want a short, sweet, and slightly spicy escape, this is it!

Two hours of my life I'll never get back. This is a string of the most tired BL tropes—sponge bath, drunk flirting, beach walks—with zero coherent story. The voiceover dumps are amateurish, and the acting is wooden. I have no idea how anyone can believe two strangers fall in love and make life-changing decisions in three days. Even the cinematography, while pretty, can't save this shallow, nonsensical mess.

Visually, this miniseries is a feast. The white-and-blue resort, the soft golden lighting, and the way the camera lingers on the characters' faces—absolutely stunning. The story is paper-thin and relies on chance encounters, but as a mood piece, it works. I just wish the writing matched the beauty of the imagery. Still, I'd watch anything shot this beautifully again.

As a story about healing and consent, this falls short. The power dynamic between resort owner and guest is never really addressed, and the rapid intimacy feels glossed over. Plus, the BDSM fantasy scene comes out of nowhere and is played for laughs, which may trivialize kink for some viewers. The leads have decent chemistry, but the series doesn't engage with its own themes in a meaningful way.

The soundtrack for 'The Renovation' is surprisingly good—there's a mellow acoustic guitar theme that perfectly captures the seaside vibe, and the lounge music never feels intrusive. It sets a relaxed tone that helps smooth over the clunky dialogue. Not the best BL out there, but the music makes it a pleasant background watch while I work or unwind.
