The Love Never Sets is a courageous and emotionally charged Thai BL that refuses to shy away from the darkest corners of trauma and recovery. Ice was a promising university student until a brutal violation forced him to drop out and into the adult film industry. Now, years later, he's back on campus, struggling to rebuild his life. When he's cast in a student short film with a gay-themed storyline, he's horrified to discover his co-star is Saint—the very boy who unknowingly broke his heart years ago. Saint, now a gentle and protective upperclassman, is determined to win back Ice's trust, but Ice's walls are fortified by pain, secrets, and an abusive relationship. As they navigate the intense workshop for the film, their past and present collide. What makes this series special is its unflinching look at mental health, survivor guilt, and the slow, painful process of choosing love when you feel unworthy. It’s not just a romance—it's a raw, therapeutic journey of two broken people learning to heal together.

I absolutely fell in love with Saint and Ice. Their story broke my heart but also put it back together. Ja and Tae have this quiet, soulful chemistry that makes every longing glance feel like a hug. The healing arc is so beautifully done. Yes, it's heavy, but that's what makes it real.

I wanted to love this because the premise is so important, but the execution is a mess. Too many subplots, characters making dumb decisions, and redemption arcs that come out of nowhere. The pacing drags after episode 8. And that final episode? Come on, singing someone out of a coma? Really?

This is one of the few BLs that actually engages with consent and survivor psychology in a meaningful way. The workshop scenes between the leads are masterfully understated. I appreciate how the show doesn't pretend trauma is easily overcome. The GL couple's storyline also feels authentic and not tokenized. Flawed but necessary.

Visually, this series is a treat. The lighting in the flashback scenes is dreamy and nostalgic, while the present-day campus has a crisp, almost cinematic feel. The color palette shifts as the characters heal. I wish the direction had been as consistent as the cinematography, but the shots are often gorgeous.

As someone who read the web novel, I was excited but ultimately disappointed. The drama added a lot of unnecessary melodrama and changed the tone significantly. The book's Ice was more flirty and proactive; here he's a passive victim for way too long. The father redemption arc is also much more forced in the show. It's okay, but the novel was better.
