Fate takes copywriter Khen and his team to a decaying mansion deep in a Chiang Mai forest, where they plan to document its ghostly legends for a resort project. But the eerie house has a pull of its own. Khen finds himself drawn into a mysterious rift, meeting Mas, the handsome son of the estate's original owner, who seems to exist a century in the past. Their connection defies logic—tender, electric, and shadowed by an inescapable secret. As Khen's reality unravels, he discovers that not everyone in the mansion is what they seem, and the line between the living and the dead blurs.

The Hidden Moon is a slow-burn supernatural romance wrapped in a macabre mystery. It offers a hauntingly beautiful exploration of love that transcends time, while keeping viewers guessing with its layered twists. With a brooding atmosphere, a tragic historical subplot, and a core romance that aches with fragility, this series is perfect for those who crave emotion over easy answers—and aren't afraid to let a story linger in their mind long after the final episode.

I wanted to love this, but the script is a mess. Why can a ghost eat, sleep, and use a computer with great internet from 1910? Why does nobody question Khen wandering off alone every time something scary happens? If you're going to do a time-loop ghost story, at least follow your own rules. The ending twist is clever but the road there is full of potholes. Frustrating waste of a good premise.

This series broke me in the best way. Yes, the acting is a bit stiff at first, but the chemistry between Khen and Mas grows so beautifully. The moment you realize what's really happening—my heart shattered. I ugly-cried during the final episodes. If you have patience for a slow burn and love tragic, time-crossed romances, this will stay with you forever.

Having read the novel by Violet Rain, I think the adaptation does a decent job capturing the eerie mood and the tragic love story. They changed some details (the side couple's backstory is more fleshed out in the novel), but the core twist—that Khen and his friends are ghosts—is handled with surprising emotional weight. The Thai traditional music used is also a nice touch. Not perfect, but fans of the book will appreciate it.

Visually, this series is a treat. The lighting in the mansion, the rain-soaked forest, the warm tones of the past scenes—it's like watching a gothic painting come to life. The director clearly has an eye for composition, even if the editing is choppy at times. The soundtrack also stands out: that northern Thai folk song reinterpreted as a love theme gave me chills. If only the acting matched the production value, this could have been a masterpiece.

I was intrigued by the portrayal of the female characters, especially the tragic dancer Sompho. It's rare to see a BL explore a lesbian subplot with such sorrow and nuance—her story is a haunting commentary on jealousy and repression. However, the main romance between Khen and Mas feels curiously devoid of consent conversations, given that Mas is alive and Khen is a spirit. The power imbalance is never addressed. An interesting but flawed attempt at queer storytelling.
