The Guitar Man is a brief but heartfelt Filipino BL miniseries that strikes a chord with romance and music. The story follows a talented but introverted guitarist who meets a passionate music lover at a local gig. Their shared love for melodies and lyrics sparks an unexpected connection, leading to a tender exploration of self-discovery and intimacy. Set against a backdrop of acoustic sessions and quiet city nights, this 2-episode series captures the vulnerability and joy of falling for someone who simply gets you. While its short runtime limits narrative depth, the emotional core resonates through gentle performances and a soulful soundtrack. It's a sweet, low-key entry point for those seeking a quick, music-driven queer romance.

I really wanted to love this more because the music scenes gave me chills. The leads had a sweet, shy chemistry that felt authentic for a first love story. It's just way too short—I needed at least 6 episodes to really feel the romance grow. Still, for a quick watch, it's a cozy little gem.

I get that it's a miniseries, but 2 episodes of 10 minutes each barely counts as a story. The pacing feels rushed, and the conflict is resolved in a single conversation. The guitar playing is lovely, but the script needed more substance. Not terrible, but barely memorable.

The acoustic tracks are the real star here. I've been replaying the original song from episode 2 on repeat. But as a drama, it's frustratingly shallow. The music lifted an otherwise weak script. If they released a full OST album, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Visually, it tries hard with warm lighting and dreamy close-ups of guitar fingers. But the low budget shows in the inconsistent sound mixing and flat direction. It feels like a student project with heart, which isn't a bad thing, but it doesn't stand out among other Filipino BLs.
