In the bustling city of Chiang Mai, Tachit, a kind-hearted dentist, has spent years nursing a quiet, one-sided love for his childhood friend Rawin. But Rawin is now happily in a relationship, leaving Tachit to bury his feelings behind a professional smile. That is until a patient named 'Northern Boy' walks into his clinic—a charming, free-spirited young man from the mountains of Northern Thailand. As Tachit is drawn into this stranger's warmth and vulnerability, he begins to question whether his long-held devotion was simply a comfortable pain, or if a new, healthier love is waiting just around the corner. This Thai BL series delicately explores themes of letting go, self-discovery, and the courage to embrace unexpected romance. With heartfelt performances by Max Jirayut and an endearing cast, The Dentist and the Northern Boy offers a tender, slow-burn story that reminds us that sometimes the person meant for us isn't the one we've been waiting for.

I absolutely melted watching Tachit and the Northern Boy! Their first meeting in the dentist chair was so awkwardly sweet, and the way Tachit slowly opens up had me crying happy tears. Max is phenomenal—he makes you feel every ounce of longing and hope. A perfect Valentine's Day binge!

The premise is cute, but the pacing drags in the middle episodes. Tachit's internal monologues repeat the same 'I'm not over Rawin' sentiment too many times. The Northern Boy character feels underdeveloped—I wanted more of his backstory. Still, the final resolution is satisfying if you're patient.

Visually, this show is a treat. The soft, warm lighting in the clinic contrasts beautifully with the vibrant greens and blues of the Northern mountain scenes. Every frame feels like a photo you'd want to frame. The color grading really amplifies the emotional shift from Tachit's lonely gray days to newfound color.

I appreciate that the show doesn't villainize Rawin or his girlfriend—it treats unrequited love as a natural, painful part of life. But I wish Tachit's struggle with letting go was explored more through his internal consent to move on rather than just external circumstances. Still, it's a respectful portrayal of queer emotional growth.

Having read the original novel, I was worried the drama would tone down the Northern Boy's quirky personality, but they kept his charm intact! Some side plots were cut, which streamlined the story. The chemistry between the leads is even better on screen. A solid adaptation that honors the source material.
