I went in with low expectations given the rating, but this short film really touched me. The chemistry between the two leads felt genuine, and the angst of their secret love was palpable. Yes, it's rough around the edges, but if you're a sucker for forbidden romance and cross-cultural tension, it's worth 30 minutes of your time.

I understand the premise, but the execution felt rushed and disjointed. The text message drama came out of nowhere, and the characters never felt fully developed. I wanted to care about them, but the short runtime didn't allow for any real emotional buildup. Disappointing.

Visually, the film has some lovely framing and warm lighting that captures Tokyo's intimate corners. The cinematography does a lot of heavy lifting to convey longing. However, the dialogue is weak and the pacing suffers. A decent attempt at a quiet romance, but not memorable.

I appreciate that the film doesn't shy away from showing the real-world consequences of a secret gay relationship in Japan—the fear, the code-switching, the constant looking over your shoulder. But it also leans into melodrama without fully exploring those social pressures. A missed opportunity to say something deeper.

The background score tries to be haunting and melancholic, but it's repetitive and sometimes overpowers the scenes. A stronger, more varied soundtrack could have elevated the emotional beats. Unfortunately, the music didn't do much for me.
