When rebellious teenager Lava is sent by his mother to spend the summer with his young uncle on a remote Thai island, he expects boredom and hard labor—not a mysterious stranger washing up on the shore. Naming the amnesiac young man 'Wave,' Lava reluctantly becomes his caretaker, and their relationship quickly evolves from exasperated bickering to tender, unexpected intimacy. As Wave's past slowly resurfaces, secrets involving a royal family, political unrest, and a forgotten assassination attempt threaten to pull them apart. Meanwhile, Lava's uncle Pheng navigates a hidden romance with the local Dr. Wut, adding layers of mature emotional conflict. With stunning seaside cinematography and a sun-drenched atmosphere, 'That Summer' is a heartfelt coming-of-age romance that explores identity, memory, and the fleeting magic of a season that changes everything.

I'm absolutely obsessed with Winny and Satang—they have this effortless, sparkly chemistry that made every scene between them feel electric. The bickering-to-soft progression had me kicking my feet, and that one beach kiss? Pure perfection. This is the summer romance I didn't know I needed.

Honestly, I started this for WinnySatang but stayed for Mond and Ryu as Dr. Wut and Uncle Pheng. Their secret relationship felt so raw and real—the angst of wanting to be open but being held back by family expectations broke my heart. They carried the emotional weight of the show for me.

Look, the visuals are stunning and the leads are charming, but the writing? Total mess. The royal coup subplot is introduced and then literally vanishes without resolution, and the reverse amnesia in episode 9 felt like a cheap trick. It's a pretty picture with a hollow story—disappointing because it had potential.

The color grading in That Summer is a masterclass in warm, nostalgic visual storytelling. Every sunset shot lingers like a memory, and the choice to let the actors' natural skin tones show (freckles and all!) was both refreshing and beautiful. This is the kind of show you watch on mute just to soak in the frames.

I wanted to love the soundtrack, but it's so inconsistent. The original OST is lovely and fits the island vibe perfectly, but the random English copyright-free tracks in the middle of emotional scenes totally yanked me out of the moment. The main theme is gorgeous though—I've had it on repeat.
