Picking up four years after the events of *TharnType: The Series*, this special episode is a heartfelt and steamy love letter to fans who've followed Tharn and Type’s tumultuous journey. Now deeply settled into their relationship, the couple has built a life together—sharing a home, navigating daily routines, and supporting each other’s dreams. But the past isn’t entirely behind them. When Type decides it’s finally time to introduce Tharn to his family, he must confront his father’s deeply conservative values. The episode weaves between the present and a flashback to that nerve-wracking first meeting, where Tharn endures a hilarious and tense family dinner, complete with a fainting father and a spicy gauntlet. Meanwhile, the present-day storyline lets us bask in the couple’s unshakable bond—playful bickering, tender moments, and their unmistakable heat. The special also resolves lingering threads from the series: Type reconciles with his best friend Kom, and we see how his mother’s quiet acceptance becomes a pillar of support. With its blend of laugh-out-loud comedy, genuine emotional beats, and the trademark Mew-Gulf chemistry, *Our Final Love* serves as both a warm conclusion and a celebration of love that endures against all odds. Director MAME proves that even a one-hour special can deliver the heart, humor, and heat that made the original series a phenomenon.

I am absolutely OBSESSED with this special! Yes, I'm a shipper, but honestly, Mew and Gulf just keep getting better. The way Tharn looks at Type after four years—still so full of adoration—it melts my heart. The flashback to meeting the parents is comedy gold (Type's dad fainting had me in stitches), and the cat-ear scene? Ridiculous and adorable. Plus, the beach scene is pure cinematic romance. If you love TharnType, this is the perfect gift. Rewatch value: infinite. I've already seen it five times.

This special feels like a bunch of disconnected fan-service scenes stapled together. The pacing is all over the place—first a pointless present-day segment, then a flashback that actually has a narrative, then back to present for a weird cat roleplay. And can we talk about Lhong? They seriously try to redeem a character who orchestrated a gang rape and attempted murder. That's not just bad writing, it's offensive. The only saving grace is the middle section with Type's parents, which is genuinely funny, but it's not enough to salvage the mess.

Visually, this special is a step up from the series. The lighting in the beach scene is breathtaking—golden hour perfection. The camera lingers on Tharn and Type's faces during intimate moments, capturing every micro-expression. I also loved the use of warm tones in the family home to contrast with the cold tension from Type's father. The editing could be tighter (some transitions feel abrupt), but for a one-off special, the cinematography really elevated the emotional beats. A feast for the eyes.

That acoustic version of 'Hold Me Tight' by Mew is *everything*. The way the song swells during the scene where Type's mother tells him she'll love him no matter what—I was sobbing. The soundtrack in this special is perfectly curated, from the playful tunes during the spicy dinner to the soft piano when they're cuddling. Music has always been a strong point in TharnType, and 'Our Final Love' delivers the best OST moments of the entire franchise. I've had the song on repeat for weeks.

I wanted to love this, but I can't ignore the problematic undertones. Type's 'coming out' to his friend Kom happens off-screen, and the resolution feels rushed—as if the writers just wanted to check a box. The Lhong redemption arc is disgusting; the show glosses over his violent actions with a quick 'he feels guilty.' And Type's homophobic past is barely addressed. For a special that claims to be about love and acceptance, it sidesteps the harder conversations. The chemistry between Mew and Gulf is real, but that alone doesn't excuse the shallow treatment of trauma and consent.

As someone who read the novels first, I appreciate that this special adapts the 'meet the parents' arc more faithfully than the series did for other plotlines. The father's stubbornness and the mother's quiet support are spot-on. However, the addition of the bizarre cat scene is pure fan fiction—it's cute, but it doesn't exist in the book, and it feels out of character for Type. I also wish they had included the original novel's more detailed exploration of Type's internal struggle. Still, it's a solid epilogue that gives fans the closure the novel's ending lacked.

I'm only here for the side characters—Techno, Khom, even Tharn's brother Thorn. And honestly, this special didn't give them enough screen time. The whole Lhong scene felt forced and uncomfortable. Why is he not in prison? I needed more of Type's friends and their dynamics. The main couple's chemistry is undeniable, but I was hoping for more ensemble moments. That said, the reconciliation between Type and Khom did make me tear up. Just not enough to push this above average.

I haven't watched the original series yet, but a friend told me this special could stand alone. And honestly? I loved it! The flashback structure made it easy to follow, and the chemistry between the leads is insane. The meet-the-parents scenes were hilarious and touching. I can see why people are obsessed with Mew and Gulf. A couple of references went over my head, but it made me want to go back and watch the series. Great introduction to Thai BL!
