Fresh out of university, a young man named Tan stumbles back into the orbit of his charismatic senior, Pom, who now runs a cozy, sunlit tea lounge in the heart of Bangkok. What begins as a nostalgic reunion over cups of oolong and jasmine quickly deepens into something more tender and consuming. But just as Tan opens his heart to the warmth of Pom’s attention, he discovers that Pom is still entangled with his long-term girlfriend, who is facing her own personal struggles. Torn between a blossoming new connection and a lingering sense of duty, Pom must navigate a delicate emotional triangle. As the leaves steep and conversations linger,

Tea Lounge

serves a bittersweet story of timing, self-discovery, and the courage to let go—or hold on. With soft cinematography, gentle pacing, and raw performances from its cast (including Nob Sathanapong and Golf Kunavut), this Thai film whispers instead of shouts, drawing viewers into the quiet turbulence of unspoken feelings and difficult choices.

I am absolutely wrecked in the best way. Tan and Pom's chemistry is so gentle and real—I felt every lingering look, every almost-touch. The tea lounge atmosphere just amplifies the romantic tension. I cried three times, but it was worth it. A beautiful slow-burn that stays with you.

I appreciate the attempt at emotional depth, but the pacing drags in the middle, and the girlfriend character feels like a plot device rather than a real person. The ending also leaves too many threads dangling—I wanted more resolution for all three sides. Still, the performances are solid.

This film is a visual poem. The way light filters through the tea steam, the soft focus on porcelain cups, the color palette of warm ambers and soft greens—every shot is postcard-worthy. The director clearly loves symmetry and negative space. Even if the story were weak (which it isn't), I'd watch for the cinematography alone.

I appreciated that the film doesn't romanticize cheating—it shows the pain and confusion on all sides. Pom's indecision feels realistic, not excusable. However, I wish Tan had been given more agency to walk away earlier; the power imbalance (senior/junior) is a bit uncomfortable. Still, a thoughtful conversation starter about boundaries in love triangles.

The soundtrack is a hidden gem! Soft acoustic guitar and gentle piano melodies weave through every emotional beat. The main theme, 'Steeped in You,' plays at just the right moments—I've already added it to my playlist. The sound design of pouring tea and sipping is ASMR-level soothing. A total mood.
