Takumi-kun Series 4: Pure shifts the spotlight from the beloved main couple to the intense, turbulent relationship between the aloof Misu Arata and the innocent Shingyouji Kanemitsu. The film begins at their first meeting, when Shingyouji enters the prestigious all-boys Shidou Gakuen as a junior, immediately captivated by the brooding Misu. What follows is a raw exploration of a possessive, emotionally charged dynamic—Misu is cold, demanding, and often cruel, while Shingyouji’s pure-hearted devotion borders on self-sacrifice. Set against the serene backdrop of the school’s traditions, this entry in the Takumi-kun saga delves into themes of power, submission, and the painful vulnerability of first love. While the main couple Gii and Takumi offer sweet moments of stability, the film’s core is a stormy romance that will leave you questioning where love ends and toxicity begins. Beautifully shot and anchored by strong performances, Pure is a must-watch for those who crave intense, psychologically layered BL.

I live for tsundere love stories and this film delivered! Misu may be cold, but those kisses were absolute fire—I rewound them multiple times. Shingyouji's pure devotion broke my heart in the best way. Yes, it's problematic, but the emotional payoff is so worth it.

I appreciate the attempt to develop the side couple, but the relationship felt one-sided and poorly justified. Shingyouji is just a doormat, and Misu gives nothing but crumbs. The main couple bits were more convincing. This is strictly for hardcore fans of the series.

I couldn't get past the owner/pet dynamic and the complete lack of mutual respect. Calling someone your 'dog' and expecting blind obedience isn't romance—it's emotional abuse. The film glamorizes toxic possession without any critique. Disappointing, especially when the earlier movies handled consent better.

As someone who read the original manga, this adaptation captures the angst but removes some nuance from Misu's character. The pacing is rushed, and the side couple Takabayashi/Yoshizawa felt tacked on. Still, the casting is spot-on and those intense stares are exactly how I imagined.

The cinematography in Pure is stunning—soft lighting through school windows, lingering close-ups that make every glance feel heavy. The cherry blossom scenes are dreamlike. Even if the story bothers you, the visual beauty and OST are worth experiencing. A feast for the eyes.
