The third installment of the beloved Takumi-kun series turns up the emotional heat as university life throws new challenges at our favorite couple. Takumi and Gii have weathered many storms, but nothing prepares them for the distance that now threatens to tear them apart. Returning from a summer abroad, Gii has transformed—not just in appearance, but in demeanor. As the newly appointed head of the third-floor dormitory, he becomes cold and distant, even pushing Takumi away. Takumi's fragile touch aversion, which had slowly healed thanks to Gii's patient love, resurfaces with full force. The boy who once found safety in Gii's arms now faces a partner who seems willing to let him go. Beautifully shot with a haunting soundtrack, this film explores the fragility of first love and the painful art of self-protection. Can two boys who were once inseparable find their way back to each other? The Beauty of Detail is a tender, angsty chapter that will test your heart—and ultimately reward it.

I appreciate the attempt to inject real conflict into this typically soft series, but Gii's sudden coldness felt forced and the resolution relied too much on jealousy. The soundtrack is lovely though, and the acting holds up. Still, the plot logic made me roll my eyes a few times.

I wanted to love this because the first two films had such a dreamy look, but here the camerawork is distractingly shaky and many scenes are too dark to even see the actors' expressions. The music is fine, but technically this is the weakest entry. Disappointing.

This film broke my heart and put it back together. The scene where Gii runs desperately to find Takumi while 'The Otherside' plays is one of the most beautiful moments in BL history. Their reunion is so tender I cry every time. Yes, the plan is stupid, but true love never makes sense. Absolutely unforgettable.

The music in this film is its secret weapon. The haunting piano themes and that insert song 'The Otherside' elevate every emotional beat to heart-wrenching levels. Even when the story wobbles, the score keeps you anchored. I've been humming the melody for weeks.

I appreciate that the film doesn't shy away from depicting Takumi's touch aversion as a real, ongoing struggle. However, Gii's unilateral decision to push him away 'for his own good' is a red flag. The resolution glosses over the lack of communication. Entertaining, but problematic if you think about it too hard.
