In the sweltering heat of a coastal Korean summer, Ji Han, a brooding photographer nursing a broken heart, arrives in a sleepy seaside town to escape his past. There, he crosses paths with Asin, a free-spirited musician whose laughter echoes like the tide. From their very first encounter, an inexplicable sense of familiarity—a déjà-vu—washes over them both, as if they've loved each other in another life. As lazy beach days and intimate night walks unfold, their connection deepens into a tender, all-consuming romance. But Ji Han's recurring visions hint at a history repeating itself, threatening to tear them apart. Summer Déjà-vu is a visually stunning, emotionally resonant film that explores fate, memory, and the courage to reclaim a love that feels timeless. With breathtaking cinematography and raw performances from Oh Dong Joon and Kim Chan Kyu, this Korean BL gem captures the bittersweet intensity of a summer that lingers long after the season ends.

I can't stop thinking about this film. Oh Dong Joon and Kim Chan Kyu have this heartbreakingly tender chemistry—I felt every shy smile and tear. The déjà-vu concept gave me chills, and the ending left me sobbing in the best way. A must-watch for anyone who loves a slow-burn, emotional love story.

The cinematography and acting are top-notch, but the plot feels a bit underdeveloped. The déjà-vu element is intriguing but never fully explained, which left me frustrated. The pacing is very slow—almost too slow for a feature film. Still, it's a beautiful mood piece, just not a tight narrative.

Visually, this film is a masterpiece. Every frame is like a painting—the way sunlight filters through the blinds, the reflection of the ocean in their eyes, the soft blue hour scenes. The director's eye for color and composition is incredible. I'd watch it on mute just for the aesthetic, but the story is equally moving.

The soundtrack is the soul of this film. That haunting piano theme that plays whenever they share a déjà-vu moment? I've been humming it for days. The original song by the lead actor (I think) during the beach scene is pure magic. Music lovers, you need to experience this.

I appreciate that the film handles emotional vulnerability with care. The leads communicate consent verbally and non-verbally—no red flags there. However, the power dynamic is a bit uneven (Ji Han is older, more guarded) and I wish Asin's character had more agency in the second half. Still, a refreshingly respectful BL for the genre.
