Summer Buddies is a breezy, four-episode Thai miniseries that captures the fleeting magic of a summer romance between two close friends. When shy city boy Arm (Not Pongsatorn Thongjaroen) reluctantly joins his outgoing best friend Pete (Pook Pantham Thongsang) on a spontaneous beach getaway, the sun, sand, and lazy days begin to blur the lines of their friendship. Amidst playful pranks, shared ice cream, and nighttime swims, a deeper connection quietly blossoms—but neither dares to speak it aloud. With a charming ensemble of friends adding comic relief and gentle encouragement, the series explores the nervous excitement of first love and the courage it takes to cross from 'buddies' to something more. Shot with warm, sun-drenched visuals and a lighthearted tone, Summer Buddies offers a sweet, low-stakes escape perfect for a lazy afternoon binge.

I absolutely adored this little series! The chemistry between the leads was so natural and sweet. It's a perfect fluffy summer watch that made me smile. Sure, it's short and low-budget, but the heart is there. I wish there were more episodes!

The plot is almost non-existent, just a series of clichés strung together. The acting is stiff and the comedy falls flat. I get that it's a miniseries but they could have done more with the premise. Not recommended unless you're desperate for any BL content.

Visually, it's nothing special - typical Thai BL from 2016 with flat lighting and basic camera work. However, a few beach scenes have a nice warm tone that fits the summer vibe. The editing is choppy, but for a low-budget short series, it's passable.

The series tries to be lighthearted but fails to address deeper issues. There are moments of questionable consent and the typical 'aggressive male lead' trope that's outdated. It's not terrible, but viewers should be aware of the lack of healthy relationship dynamics. A product of its time.

The soundtrack is forgettable but there's a cute acoustic song that plays during the beach scene. Not enough to elevate the whole series, but it gave me some vibes. I wish they'd released the full OST because that one track was lovely.
