Takizawa Sota has finally escaped his father's violent home, landing a spot in a university dormitory. On his very first day, he's greeted not by ordinary roommates but by a bewildering trio: a live chicken, a gleaming kitchen knife, and Shuichi Koyanagi—a culinary student who communicates his emotions through food. As Sota slowly unpacks his trauma, Shuichi teaches him that cooking can be an act of love, healing, and self-discovery. Together, they transform a chaotic shared space into a sanctuary of warm meals and quiet understanding. This vertical, short-form series serves up a tender, food-infused romance that proves sometimes the best way to say 'I care' is with a perfectly simmered broth.

I am absolutely smitten! The way Shuichi shows his feelings through cooking is the softest, most romantic thing I've ever seen. Sota's hesitant smile after the first meal they share together had me tearing up. This is why I watch BL—for pure, unspoken love.

Look, it's sweet, but a single 20-minute episode can only do so much. The trauma backstory is handled with a light touch—too light for my taste—and the resolution feels rushed. The chicken subplot is weirdly underused. Cute but forgettable.

The vertical framing is actually brilliant here—close-ups of sizzling pans, chopped herbs, and stolen glances feel intimate and immersive. The warm color grading makes the dorm kitchen feel like a safe cocoon. A masterclass in mobile-first storytelling.

I appreciate that the series shows a survivor of domestic violence slowly learning to trust again without any pressure. The consent is clear—Shuichi always asks before touching, even if it's just handing him a spoon. Still, I wish they'd addressed therapy or support systems more explicitly.

The gentle piano and soft guitar that play during the cooking montages are absolutely perfect. That final track as they share dinner—I've had it on repeat for days. The music doesn't overpower; it just wraps you in warmth.
