Daonuea has carried a torch for Khabkluen since high school. On his last day before moving abroad, he musters the courage to confess, only to be gently turned away. Years later, starting university, Daonuea is ready for a fresh start—until he discovers that his new roommate is none other than Khabkluen himself. Forced to live together during the university's Star and Moon competition, Daonuea tries to suppress his old feelings, but Khabkluen’s quiet, attentive actions speak louder than words ever could. This is a sweet, uncomplicated romance that focuses on two young people learning to communicate their emotions without the toxic drama often found in the genre. With a charming cast, light-hearted humor, and a warm portrayal of first love, "Star in My Mind" offers a refreshingly simple and feel-good viewing experience that will leave you smiling.

I am absolutely obsessed with this drama. Joong and Dunk have the most natural chemistry I've seen in a BL—every look, every touch feels real. The story is so simple and pure; it made me smile like an idiot for 8 hours straight. No toxic drama, just two adorable idiots falling in love. This is comfort BL at its finest.

The lack of communication killed this for me. I get that Khabkluen is supposed to be 'bad with words,' but it goes on for way too long and feels forced. The whole Typhoon subplot was unnecessary and just added frustration. The chemistry is decent, but the plot is just the same recycled misunderstandings we've seen a hundred times. Not terrible, but nothing special either.

The cinematography is surprisingly good for a simple university BL. Soft lighting, warm color grading, and some really well-framed scenes—especially during the moonlit confession moments. The production design of the dorm and university feels authentic. It's not high art, but it's visually pleasant and adds to the cozy, nostalgic atmosphere. The OST visuals are also lovely.

Having read the novel, I appreciate that the drama kept the core sweetness and didn't add unnecessary angst. However, the adaptation cut some important character moments for Khabkluen—his internal monologue is almost entirely gone, which makes him seem more aloof than he is in the book. The essence is there, but readers will miss the depth. Still a decent adaptation overall.

The soundtrack is one of my favorite parts of this drama. The main theme 'Star in My Mind' is so catchy and perfectly captures the yearning and joy of first love. I also love the instrumental pieces that play during the intimate scenes—they're soft and emotional without overpowering. I've been replaying the OST on Spotify non-stop. Music truly elevates this already sweet story.

Refreshing to see a BL that doesn't rely on coercion or power imbalances. Both leads explicitly respect boundaries, and when Daonuea says 'no,' Khabkluen backs off. The show also handles the 'unrequited love' trope with care—no stalking or manipulation. The only downside is the side character Typhoon who doesn't take 'no' for an answer, which is brushed off too lightly. But for the main couple, it's a healthy portrayal of young love learning to communicate.

I don't care what anyone says—this is peak fluff. Every episode made me kick my feet and giggle. The way Khabkluen takes care of Daonuea without saying much, the way Daonuea pouts and blushes... it's everything I want from a BL. No unnecessary breakups, just sweetness. I've rewatched it four times already and I cry happy tears every time. JoongDunk forever!
