Set in the gritty, rain-slicked streets of Manila, *Sponsor* is a raw and unfiltered indie drama that delves into the lives of three men—each struggling to survive in a world that barely acknowledges their existence. They are bound not by blood, but by a shared desperation: the need for a sponsor, a patron, someone to pull them out of the cycle of poverty and loneliness. Through their intertwined journeys, the film explores the blurred lines between love, transaction, and hope. At its core, *Sponsor* is a quiet, melancholic meditation on connection in a world that commodifies everything—including affection. It doesn't shy away from the harsh realities of queer life in the Philippines, offering a stark yet strangely tender portrait of men who find fleeting solace in each other's arms. For viewers seeking a thought-provoking, slow-burn drama that prioritizes emotional authenticity over conventional romance, *Sponsor* is a hidden gem that lingers long after the credits roll.

I appreciate what they were trying to do, but this film is just too sluggish and amateurish for me. The camera work is shaky, the sound is muddy, and the pacing drags to the point of boredom. The social commentary is there, but it's delivered with a sledgehammer instead of subtlety. Not an easy watch.

This isn't a feel-good BL; it's a stark look at how poverty and capitalism warp even our most intimate relationships. I found the portrayal of transactional love deeply uncomfortable but necessary. It made me think about consent in contexts where choice is an illusion. Not for everyone, but an important film.

I came in hoping for a heartfelt love story, but this just left me feeling empty. There's no real romance, just three sad guys using each other. The acting felt natural, I'll give it that, but I need some warmth or payoff in my BL. Disappointing overall.

The raw, handheld cinematography captures the grime of Manila beautifully. I love that they didn't try to glamorize anything—the scenes in the alleyways and cramped rooms feel hauntingly real. But the story structure is messy, and some scenes drag on too long. A mixed bag of visual poetry and narrative flaws.

Finally, a BL that doesn't sanitize queer experience! The performances are raw and devastating—especially Eduardo Roy Jr.'s direction. This film isn't about escaping reality; it's about surviving it. If you want something that challenges you, not just entertains you, *Sponsor* is a must-watch. Not for the faint of heart.
