Johan, the dedicated workaholic, and North, the affectionate and fiercely caring homemaker, are navigating the next chapter of their relationship—full of tender domestic moments, playful bickering, and unwavering support. I never thought I'd need a two-episode special about a couple doing laundry and cooking, but here I am, crying tears of joy. Johan and North are everything—soft, caring, and so beautifully in love. That proposal scene? I nearly fainted. Maxky and Bas have magic between them. If you want a show that makes you believe in true love, watch this right now.

Look, I get the appeal. The chemistry is fine, but this special is basically 100 minutes of fluff with zero narrative drive. Nothing happens that couldn't be summed up in a five-minute montage. The lack of any supporting cast makes it feel empty, and some character decisions (like North suddenly accepting a bought apology) are inconsistent. If you're here for plot, you'll be bored.

As someone who read Howlsairy's novel, I was thrilled that the author herself wrote this special. It captures the essence of the side story perfectly—simple, warm, and full of small moments that matter. The only downside is that some of the more nuanced book details (like North's inner thoughts) don't translate fully to screen. Still, Maxky and Bas are exactly how I pictured them. A faithful and loving adaptation.

The OST in this special is subtle but effective—the same main theme from Fourever You returns, but it's used sparingly, which makes those emotional peaks hit harder. I wish they had commissioned a new song specifically for JohanNorth's proposal scene, because the existing track felt a bit reused. Still, the sound design during the intimate bathtub scene was lovely—soft water sounds and gentle music created the perfect mood.

I appreciate that this special shows a healthy, communicative relationship where both partners respect each other's boundaries. When Johan apologizes without excuses and North is allowed to be angry, it sets a great example. However, I was slightly uncomfortable with how North's 'househusband' role is almost exclusively domestic—he has no life outside of caring for Johan. It's sweet but could be seen as reinforcing traditional gender roles in a same-sex context. A bit more balance would have been nice.
