Wooju Bakery is a delightfully absurd sci-fi rom-com that serves up a heaping plate of charm alongside its pastries. When Wooju (Barcode Tinnasit) pours his heart into reopening his late parents’ bakery in a sleepy town, the last thing he expects is a literal spaceship crashing through his storefront on opening day. The cause of this cosmic catastrophe? Raon (Jeff Satur), a flamboyant alien prince with a glittery wardrobe and an appetite for Earthly sweets—but also a secret mission from a home planet that's gone a little... dictatorial. Forced into an unlikely cohabitation, the grumpy-but-soft baker and the naïve, earnest extraterrestrial must navigate an intergalactic takeover plot that's as haphazard as it is hilarious. With the help of a talking dog-in-disguise and a princess with a playlist, Wooju and Raon discover that the universe's greatest gifts might just be a perfect loaf of bread and a love that defies galaxies. Pure, campy, and impossible to take seriously, Wooju Bakery is a sugary escape that understands the first rule of feel-good BL: never let logic get in the way of a sweet smile.

I don't care what the haters say—Wooju and Raon are absolutely precious together. Jeff and Barcode have this effortless sweetness that makes my heart flutter every time they share a scene. The alien kiss was everything I've been waiting for since KinnPorsche. Yes, the plot is nonsense, but who needs logic when you have this much charm?

I went in expecting a mess and got a bigger mess. The story is incomprehensible—an alien takeover plan that makes no sense, characters switching languages mid-conversation without explanation, and editing that feels like someone dropped a stack of scenes on the floor and reassembled them randomly. Jeff and Barcode try their best, but they're swimming against a current of terrible writing. Hard pass.

Visually, this show is a guilty pleasure. Jeff's alien wardrobe is an explosion of iridescent fabrics, deep V-necks, and giant earrings that scream 'I'm here to be fabulous, not logical.' The bakery set is warm and cozy, and the night scenes have a dreamy glow. I just wish the camera work matched the costuming ambition—some shots linger awkwardly. But for the aesthetics alone, I enjoyed it.

Okay, I'm only here for Princess and the police officer—they had maybe 15 minutes of screen time total, but their dynamic was fire. The Princess calling himself 'pretty' and flirting shamelessly with the flustered cop stole every scene. I'd watch an entire spin-off of just those two. The main couple is cute too, but the side couple energy is where this show truly shines.

Despite its many flaws, I appreciate that Wooju Bakery never tries to be anything more than a silly, feel-good story. The consent is handled surprisingly well—Raon always respects Wooju's boundaries, and their relationship grows from annoyance to genuine care without coercion. For a show about aliens and talking dogs, it's refreshingly respectful. Just wish the production values matched the good intentions.
