I went in not expecting much after Roommate, but wow—this little spin-off really grabbed my heart. The chemistry between James and Sky felt so much more natural, and that mother scene had me sobbing. Yes, the banana bit was cringey, but the overall sweetness of the fate reveal made it all worth it. Perfect for a quick emotional fix.

The idea of tying the parents' past to the couple's destiny is clever, but the execution faltered. The mother's crying scene dragged on far too long—nearly 15 minutes of melodrama that could have been trimmed. The acting improved from the predecessor, but I still found the sexual innuendo forced and awkward. A decent effort, but not essential viewing.

The new OST is lovely and fits the bittersweet tone perfectly. I noticed the background music swells at just the right emotional beats, especially during the confessional scene between James and his mom. The audio mix is cleaner than Roommate, which shows growth. If you're a music lover like me, the soundtrack alone makes this worth a listen.

I appreciate that the series tackles the anxiety of coming out to a conservative parent and shows the mother's journey from suspicion to acceptance. However, the 'magic water' and banana scene felt regressive and played homophobic stereotypes for laughs. The emotional resolution is strong, but I wish the humor didn't undermine the serious themes.

I'm a sucker for fate tropes, and this one delivered! Seeing the two moms' old photo was such a twist—I gasped. James and Sky are adorable together, and the acting really sold the awkwardness and love. Yes, it's short, but it didn't feel rushed. Honestly, I wish more BLs were this compact and emotionally satisfying.
