Summer after his third year of high school finds Kiryuuin Sho yearning for romance while nursing a broken heart alongside his best friend Jun, who's just been dumped by his cheating ex Kenji. To shake off the blues, the two head to the beach for sun, sea, and a fresh start. There they meet Kyan, a charismatic local with a hidden past, who draws them into a whirlwind of rekindled hope and unexpected danger. When a near-drowning incident forces Kiryuuin to confront his own vulnerability, the friends are pulled closer together—and into a tangled web of new attractions and old wounds. A cult indie gem from 2009, this film blends raw amateur charm with the playful energy of Japanese pop group Golden Bomber, delivering a campy, heartfelt tale about moving on and falling in love again. It's a nostalgic time capsule of 2000s BL: rough around the edges, but brimming with earnest emotion and laugh-out-loud moments.

I love Golden Bomber so maybe I'm biased, but this movie is pure summer fun. The beach vibes, the silly drama, and the boys stumbling into romance made me smile the whole way through. Yeah, the dubbing is obvious and the acting is extra, but who cares? Kiryuuin and Jun had real chemistry, and I got all the feels during the rescue scene. It's like a long music video from my favorite band—perfect for a lazy afternoon.

I went in expecting a fun ride but got a mess. The story is barely coherent, the timestamp jumps are confusing, and the dialogue often doesn't match the actors' mouths. I'm convinced this was shot on a handheld camcorder and dubbed in someone's bedroom. I laughed a few times at how bad it was, but as a movie it's an absolute failure. Only for diehard Golden Bomber fans who can tolerate amateur hour.

I adore Golden Bomber's songs, so I was excited. But wow, the music totally overpowers everything. It's like they forgot to lower the volume during dialogue—half the emotional scenes are drowned out by synth beats. If you treat this as a music video compilation with a random story in between, it's okay. But as a film, the audio mix is a disaster. Still, I caught myself humming 'Mentai' for days after.

I have mixed feelings. On one hand, it's nice to see a BL where characters openly talk about heartbreak and moving on. On the other, the drowning 'rescue' scene and the way Jun's ex is portrayed feel a bit problematic—the cheating is played for drama but never really addressed. And the overall tone is so campy that any serious attempt at exploring LGBTQ+ emotions gets lost. It's harmless fluff, but I wish the creators had treated the subject matter with a bit more care.

Visually this is a train wreck. Shaky handheld shots, inconsistent lighting, and that notorious dubbing—I could barely focus on the story because I kept wincing at the technical flaws. Some scenes look like they were recorded on a 2005 flip phone. I appreciate the effort of an indie BL, but if you care about cinematography at all, skip this. Even the beach, which should be gorgeous, looks washed out and cheap.
