In a sleepy coastal Taiwanese town where the sea whispers secrets to the shore, 15-year-old Ah Guei sees the world through a unique lens—literally. Her color blindness paints everything in muted grays, mirroring the emotional isolation she feels at home and school. When a troubled, charismatic young man named Ah Hao (played by a young Austin Lin) arrives, their paths intertwine in a delicate dance of shared loneliness and unspoken longing. This achingly gentle film explores the quiet courage of two misfits who discover that love—and even the simplest hues of human connection—can exist where they least expect it. With poetic cinematography that captures the textures of seaside life and a hauntingly beautiful score, *Somewhere I Have Never Travelled* is a tender, bittersweet portrait of first love and the indelible marks people leave on our hearts.

This film completely stole my heart. The way Ah Guei and Ah Hao slowly open up to each other, sharing their quiet pains and tiny joys, felt so real and pure. No grand confessions, just two lonely souls finding a home in each other. Absolutely beautiful and heartbreaking.

The emotional atmosphere is nice, but the narrative feels aimless at times. I appreciate the color blindness metaphor, but some scenes meander without advancing the story or character development. It's more of a mood piece than a plot-driven film. Worth watching for the visuals, but don't expect a tight script.

I'm a sucker for films that turn visual limitations into art. Every shot of the gray seaside, the muted colors, the soft focus on faces—it all builds this melancholy dreamscape. The director uses light and shadow brilliantly to show what the protagonist cannot see. A masterclass in visual storytelling.

I found the film's treatment of difference and isolation thoughtful. The color blindness is not just a gimmick—it mirrors how society often fails to see queer love. The romance develops respectfully, with clear consent and no power imbalance. A gentle yet important depiction of longing and self-acceptance in a restrictive small town.

The music is the soul of this film. The piano and ambient sounds perfectly echo the ebb and flow of the sea and the characters' emotions. There's one recurring theme that tugs at your chest every time it plays. I've been listening to the OST on repeat ever since.
