In this daring South Korean short film, we meet Kim and Choi, two gay friends navigating the tricky waters of unspoken affection and unconventional desires. Kim harbors a quiet, unrequited love for Choi, but Choi's romantic and sexual interests lie elsewhere—specifically, in middle-aged men with generous waistlines. Their comfortable, playful dynamic takes an awkward turn when Choi casually asks Kim to summon a masseur who fits his very specific type. What follows is a tense, intimate, and visually bold exploration of longing, rejection, and the fragility of friendship. So Refreshed! doesn't shy away from its mature themes, offering viewers a raw, unfiltered glimpse into a relationship where one person's desire is painfully mismatched. Despite its brief runtime, the film packs an emotional punch, leaving audiences to reflect on the complexities of unreciprocated love and the courage it takes to ask for what you want. For those seeking a short but provocative BL that challenges conventional romance tropes, this Korean indie gem is a must-watch.

I really wanted to like this because I love seeing gay characters on screen, but the whole premise made me uncomfortable. Kim's unrequited love is sad, but his friend's fetish for old men with big bellies just felt odd and not romantic at all. There's barely any sweet moments. Not for me.

As a short film, it's okay. The concept is unique but the execution feels rushed. The dialogue is minimal, and the plot is just one awkward scene. I didn't connect with the characters. The nudity seems gratuitous rather than artistic. A 6/10 for effort in representing a niche topic.

Visually, this short film is stunning. The lighting, the close-ups on faces, the intimate framing of their interactions – it all adds a layer of tension and vulnerability. The raw quality of the cinematography makes the uncomfortable situation feel more real. I wish there was more story, but as a visual piece, it's effective.

This film raises important questions about consent and objectification. Choi's request to call a masseur specifically matching his fetish, while Kim is clearly pining, feels exploitative. The power dynamics are uncomfortable and not examined critically. I appreciate that the film doesn't shy away from taboo desires, but it lacks a moral or emotional resolution. A bold but problematic watch.
