In the gritty underbelly of Manila, 'Sin' tells the story of Harry, a quiet hotel receptionist trapped between a devout religious upbringing and his own identity. When he meets the charismatic but deeply troubled alcoholic, Marco, a secret relationship ignites that is as passionate as it is destructive. As their bond deepens, they confront a world of homophobia, familial betrayal, and inner demons—Harry's abusive father and Marco's relentless self-destruction. The film weaves a raw, melodramatic tale of love as both salvation and damnation, asking whether even the deepest sin can be washed away. With its somber tone, haunting soundtrack, and unflinching depiction of desperation, 'Sin' is a diamond in the rough: a low-budget Filipino indie that refuses to look away from the messy, painful, yet magnetic pull of forbidden love.

I cried so hard watching Harry and Marco. Their love felt so real and painful—like they were fighting the whole world just to hold each other. Yes, it's messy and dark, but that's what makes it beautiful. I'll never forget the scene under the rain. Pure heartbreak and pure love.

The ambition is clear, but the execution is all over the place. Characters make baffling decisions, the script feels rushed, and the constant tragedy becomes exhausting rather than impactful. The soundtrack and lead chemistry save it from being unwatchable, but this needed another draft badly.

While I appreciate the attempt to portray queer suffering and religious trauma, the film stacks too many shock-value triggers without proper care or resolution. The incest subplot is gratuitous, and the self-harm scenes feel exploitative. We need stories about queer joy, not just pain porn.

I stayed for the music and honestly that's what made the movie bearable. The piano themes and the heartbreaking original songs capture every ounce of sorrow and hope. If only the rest of the film matched the emotional precision of the soundtrack, this could have been a masterpiece.
