René is a dutiful grandson, quietly running the family business while caring for his ailing grandmother. Her well-meaning friend constantly parades eligible women before him, hoping he'll finally settle down. What she doesn't know is that René is gay—and deeply in love with a man named Levi. Set against the humid, unglamorous backdrop of Manila, *Share* unfolds as a tender yet unflinching exploration of duty versus desire. The film captures the quiet agony of living a double life, the suffocating weight of family expectations, and the rare, stolen moments of intimacy that make it all bearable. Unlike many Filipino gay films of its era, *Share* avoids poverty-porn clichés, instead offering a surprisingly sweet, almost fairy-tale-like romance—tempered by raw, explicit scenes that ground it in reality. It's a bold, emotionally charged drama that paved the way for more nuanced LGBTQ+ storytelling in the Philippines.

I wanted to love this because it's such an important step for Filipino BL, but the acting really let me down. The chemistry between the leads felt forced, and that kiss—wow, it was hard to watch. Still, I appreciate that the story avoided the usual poverty tropes and gave us a tender, simple love story. A noble effort, but not one I'd rewatch.

For a 2012 Pinoy gay film, *Share* is surprisingly sweet. The camera work and editing are decent—much better than the usual indie fare. Yes, the shower scenes in briefs are silly (we're not prudes here!), but the emotional core with the grandmother got me. It's a flawed gem that deserves more love from BL fans.

As a BL newbie, this was a lot. I didn't expect so much nudity and the acting felt wooden. I get that it's a milestone, but it didn't click for me. The grandmother's storyline was sweet, but the romance itself felt awkward. Probably better for hardcore fans of early queer cinema.

What interests me is the context: a rare middle-class gay narrative in 2012 Philippines. But the film's failure to show authentic intimacy (straight actors unable to kiss properly) undermines its own progressiveness. The 'fish kiss' is a classic sign of queer discomfort in media. An important artifact, but not a good romance.
